  • Yea, wuap, please continue.

I'm still choked up over Sunday's 60 Minutes episode about the Russian atrocities that were committed in Bucha. The whole segment is deeply touching, but the final section, starting at the 9:28 mark, really haunts me. I wish it could be broadcast into every Russian home (and Uncle Ted's), as it would erase any lingering doubt about the unspeakable evil Putin is guilty of.

I don't post gruesome stuff to my facebook wall, but I've been putting disclaimer/warnings here. I hope that's acceptable and appropriate. I know that we have a number of combat veterans here, and I don't want to trigger (using the word with love here) any bad memories or PTSD, so I put that on them.

The first time I saw the photos of piles of bound bodies, including children as young as four, back when they retook Bucha, I got raging drunk and cried a lot when I learned that there was evidence of rape of the little kids. Since then, the sadness has been replaced by an anger up inside of me that I cannot quell.

Kherson is on the Ukrainian side of the river, so whatever's going on, it's interesting. The weather hasn't produced abnormal rainfall, so it's not to let out extra water.

              • I have this live stream playing in the background. In the last hour, I've heard air raid sirens go off about 10 times, though one may have been the midnight curfew warning.
It's astounding how people just learn to live with hell. Some dude is walking his dog in the bottom, second-from-the-right feed. Just letting it run around off leash.

                  • NSFL WARNING:

One of the most brutal drone videos I've seen from the war so far. The only description I can find for it is the one in Telegram, that these were Russian soldiers. I'm reminded of the scene in Shaving Ryan's Privates where they send a runner, but he gets cut down by the Germans, and they continue shooting him. Captain Miller goes, "We'd do the same thing; as long as there's air in his lungs he can convey the message." They double/triple tap these guys with grenades. What a shitty way to die freezing and face down in a bog.

Someone theorized that they might be worried about sappers/commandos cross the river under cover of darkness, and dumping water might make any crossing more treacherous. I don't know, but it might be important down the line, just thought I'd mention it.

Yeah, sounds like a countermobility measure. Could also be draining resources that would fall back into Ukraine's hands.

                          • wuap, half the telegram links you post don't work for me. What's the trick if it says "media too big, view in telegram?" I click on that and it just opens another page with the same thing.

Not at all the same type or scale of action, but it reminds me of when the Chinese Nationalist leaders blew up Yellow River dikes in 1938 to thwart the advance of the Japanese invaders. The flooding drowned a half million Chinese and left another three million homeless, perhaps accelerating the rise of Chinese communism.
