We're all sinners and no policy can change that. If someone expects that the church doesn't have sinners then they'll be sorely disappointed!Originally posted by old_gregg View Postwait, so people would rather the church explicitly issue policies about how lgbtq folks are sinners and apostates because talking about love, compassion, and acceptance is disingenuous? lol

No, it's just that the efforts to make it look like the church has love and compassion for LGBTQ just seems a bit at odds with the policies and doctrinal claims. I'd rather they actually demonstrate love and compassion toward LGBTQ, rather than just try to convince people they do.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postwait, so people would rather the church explicitly issue policies about how lgbtq folks are sinners and apostates because talking about love, compassion, and acceptance is disingenuous? lolIf we disagree on something, it's because you're wrong.

If the LGBTQRXTUV community is not allowed to have giant orgys in the temple, the church is not being compassionate enough and it is full of bigots.*Banned*

Well they have explicitly stated that LGBTQ folks are sinners, apostates, etc. You also have attempts to erase them as well, i.e. there are no homosexuals in the church. You have had statements issued that discrimination against the LGBTQ people is a right and should not be infringed. You have had active campaigns and substantial money spent trying to restrict rights of LGBTQ people.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postwait, so people would rather the church explicitly issue policies about how lgbtq folks are sinners and apostates because talking about love, compassion, and acceptance is disingenuous? lol
In the context of all that behavior, it is pretty disingenuous to talk about love, compassion, and acceptance.

Curious when you are going to give up your US citizenship, since our country has done similar things to people throughout its history.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostWell they have explicitly stated that LGBTQ folks are sinners, apostates, etc. You also have attempts to erase them as well, i.e. there are no homosexuals in the church. It depends on what qualifies as "doctrine." If it is doctrine that LGBTQ people should have restricted rights, it isn't possible to show love and compassion for them without changing doctrine. As long as the church seeks to restrict rights or marginalize LGBTQ people, the talk of love and compassion is disingenuous. I think you could strike a balance (and it would be extremely difficult) that homosexual behavior is sinful while still giving genuine love and compassion.Originally posted by kccougar View PostIs it impossible to show love and compassion for individuals without changing doctrine?
Yes, asking to have equal rights is the equivalent of demanding temple orgys and the gays are certainly making this request. Your comments certainly demonstrates your compassion for this marginalized community.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostIn their eyes, yes.
