You have had statements issued that discrimination against the LGBTQ people is a right and should not be infringed. You have had active campaigns and substantial money spent trying to restrict rights of LGBTQ people.

In the context of all that behavior, it is pretty disingenuous to talk about love, compassion, and acceptance.

It depends on what qualifies as "doctrine." If it is doctrine that LGBTQ people should have restricted rights, it isn't possible to show love and compassion for them without changing doctrine. As long as the church seeks to restrict rights or marginalize LGBTQ people, the talk of love and compassion is disingenuous. I think you could strike a balance (and it would be extremely difficult) that homosexual behavior is sinful while still giving genuine love and compassion.
