Yep. JD tries to take credit for everything. He is the biggest narcissist ever.

No, it came out within a few hours and from multiple sources. Every bishop in the church got a copy of the memo that day.

I understand that. But without Dehlin's involvement (yes, he's a narcissist), how does it catch the national press's attention within a couple of days? Some progmo sites would have run with it, but do they have enough visibility for the NYT to pay attention?

I agree that the end result likely would have been the same. I just think Dehlin's involvement was a catalyst.

You don't even have the story straight. It was all over the media within 3-4 hours of when it was released, not a couple of days. Do you honestly think John Dehlin is the only person on the planet with the means to break this story? It was distributed to every local church leader in the world. Along with an instruction to start implementing it. There was no instruction to keep it a secret. That wouldn't make sense anyway.

I wonder if that new section official declaration of the D&C won't come out until after Gays are welcomed into the church. After all, Official Declaration 2 didn't wasn't added until the priesthood ban for Blacks was rescinded and not when it was established.

I used the term Dehlinites, which I thought was clever...but apparently isn't

By Dehlinites, I meant anyone like him. If I wanted to specifically refer to Dehlin, I would have just said John Dehlin. Sure, without the progmo/exmo people
This probably would have still blown up, but they all played a piece in it.

Dude, I am not insinuating that the church wanted to keep this completely under wraps. But you are kidding yourself if you think the church wanted the world to notice it the way it did.

I never said once that Dehlin was 'the only person on the planet with the means to break the story'. Not sure where you got that from. All I said then, and am saying now, is that he helped get the policy (I guess now it's doctrine per Nelson) added notoriety. And yes, I do believe the story got traction sooner because he noticed it. The gay issue has been his pet cause for some time now, and it's silly to think he wouldn't do all he could to publicize the change. Yes, he wasn't the only one, and yes, the story would have gone national without his help. But he did help. That's all I'm saying.

                  • I don't care how it blew up in the first place, but who do I need to work with to get this story to blow up again? I have a personal interest in a particular local story getting buried right now and this could help with that.

My heart goes out to those who are suffering and will suffer for these people’s drastic choices, and it also goes out to those who are leaving holes in their families. My heart is saddened by the actions and choices made by adults because of immorality, which bring about devastating consequences for children. My heart goes out to the children of same sex partners who will not be raised by a mother or a father. And, I am deeply disappointed and saddened by the wrath and venom being poured out against our prophet, apostles and those who choose to sustain them.
