That casting choice felt pretty intentional, as the more mature adult is the one who shares the "enlightened" view.Originally posted by jay santos View PostThat video was terrible. Is the church's acting talent pool so bad that we have to get 40 year old soccer moms to play college students?
FTR, I went to college with a lot of 40-year-old soccer moms. As did anyone who attended any sort of a commuter school.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Yeah, that part was just distracting. The main reason it was terrible is that church is spending this much time and resources to legitimize what reasonable people across the world see as no less than gay bashing. It's time to move on.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostThat casting choice felt pretty intentional, as the more mature adult is the one who shares the "enlightened" view.

The church could make this same argument about every single issue that ever existed. "Don't force me in a job to serve black people, plenty of other people are willing to serve black people, it's against my religion, don't force me." Sure, the church has every right to work in the democratic process to try to marginalize and discriminate against anyone it wants to: blacks, gays, women, polygamists, soccer players. But no matter how much tithing money the church wastes in fighting this PR fight, people also have a right to think LDS are close minded, bigoted, religious nuts. The way to fight against that is not making these videos. It's to walk away from this fight we can't win.

I haven't watched the video. At this point, I'm more bothered by the churches attempt to bridge the gap and try to portray itself as loving to LGBTQ people. The church is not loving, accepting, or tolerant of LBGTQ people. You don't love, accept, or tolerate people that you are trying to marginalize and discriminate against. Stop with the bullshit PR trying to be something you are not. Go ahead and keep teaching your policies and own it, you are free to do that and will continue to be free to do that.Originally posted by jay santos View PostYeah, that part was just distracting. It is interesting how wrong you are about that one. I'm actually extremely happy. So saying I'm "bothered" about something is demonstrating anger and rage?Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostFunk, you seem to lead a miserable life. JL seems to think that anyone who isn't just like him is somehow angry and full of rage. Your cheerful and laid-back disposition is pretty much self-evident so I don't know what he's talking about.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostIt is interesting how wrong you are about that one. I'm with MP Funk here. I'm not raging, I'm not angry. It's disingenuous for the church to claim to be loving, tolerant or accepting of LGBTQ people. Own your doctrine. If your doctrine is that they're apostates, why try to claim otherwise?Originally posted by mpfunk View PostI haven't watched the video. Oh, I don't care if you bitch about the church's policy toward gays. That's low-hanging fruit. Just speaking of your entire body of work on any topic (religion, sports, food, music, whatever). You seem miserable.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostIt is interesting how wrong you are about that one. I'm actually extremely happy. wait, so people would rather the church explicitly issue policies about how lgbtq folks are sinners and apostates because talking about love, compassion, and acceptance is disingenuous? lolTe Occidere Possunt Sed Te Edere Non Possunt Nefas Est.
