Here is a good example why raising taxes on the rich won't work

Perhaps you could point out a couple of the tax shelters that are out there. I know some people that could use some.Originally posted by wuapinmon View PostThe rich have capital to throw into lobbyists to get them loopholes for tax shelters. You can't honestly believe that the vote of one poor man vs. one rich man is the same. Sure, in an academic sense, but congressmen pay attention to rich people who write checks. They pay attention to poor people who band together and raise enough hell to get the attention of the media gatekeepers.

maybe you can read a review of it.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostYeah, you and the turkey who wrote that column do. "Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

The most shocking thing about that story to me is that Gerard Depardieu still makes enough money to worry about the tax rates on income over €1MM.Originally posted by Moliere View Post

Remember that movie he made where it was funny because it seemed like he was having sex with his daughter! That was a riot, or really awful I can't remember.Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostThe most shocking thing about that story to me is that Gerard Depardieu still makes enough money to worry about the tax rates on income over €1MM.Get confident, stupid

Les Visiteurs was funny. At least I think it was. It was a long time ago.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostGerard Depardieu was only good in one movie, Le retour de Martin Guerre. And that was a long time ago.
Now Les Aventures de Rabbi Jacob or The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob, that is a funny movie. One of my favorites.

I looked, Belgium has one of the highest in the world. So I guess the take away is that if you tax people too much they will move right next door to another culturally similar country that has very, very high taxes rates as well though slightly lower than yours. What are the options for wealthy Americans that want to move? Looks like Australia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand and Mexico are all lower personal income tax locals one could consider.Originally posted by UtahDan View PostHow does Belgium's tax rate compare to ours?
