I am just glad that patriots defend NS right to arm himself even if I think he is a bit unhinged. I have noticed throughout my many years on earth that folks' tend to be most passionate about liberties they plan on using. I welcome him to the ongoing winning side of this debate, as an unarmed rural American who would die for his right to be armed but won't have to, in American society!

Decades? I see these self-driving Ubers (forget the name of the company) all over phoenix/Scottsdale/Tempe/Mesa. They still give me the creeps if I'm honest.

He leads the Dawn Project, a group that has sought a ban on Tesla’s driver-assistance technology. The latest campaign is unequivocal: “Boycott Tesla,” it says, following footage of deadly and severe crashes involving its vehicles. One ad features footage of Teslasrunning over child-size mannequins, depictions that have previously led Tesla to issue a cease-and-desist letter.

O’Dowd said he was compelled to bring awareness to the latest issue with what he calls “the most incompetent software I’ve ever seen” in part by The Post’s investigation. O’Dowd founded Green Hills Software, which makes operating systems for cars and airplanes.

No, it isn't.

It has been 10.5 years since this statement. I would like to know if any opinions have changed. As a casual observer whose career would be greatly impacted (negatively) by self-driving cars, I am less worried about that impact now than I was 10 years ago. I think that's a combination of understanding better the challenges of making this future happen, and being 10 years further in my career and thus being closer to running out the clock.

As I stated earlier in this thread, AI in an open domain like the public transportation system will NEVER happen. The only way to accomplish self-driving cars is if you completely close the system akin to air traffic.

How about this prediction by Walter that AI will be limited to very specific closed systems?

Things are impossible until they aren't. AA will argue that about fusion.

As I stated about 5 years ago. I still think SDC are at least 10 years out and closer to 45 years out (minus the 5 years from my previous prediction).
