My oldest is deathly afraid of clowns. Like panic attack levels.
I know some people are scared of clowns, but never understood it. Maybe it's John Wayne Gacy's fault.

I am fascinated by the idea of clowns and how they kind of came into the cultural lexicon and evolved into a symbol of mental disease and elevated terror. Too bad the ICP had to white trash the imagery.
Some of my favorite clown illustrations are on the inside jacket of the first Mr. Bungle cd... from an old comic book called "A Cotton Candy Autopsy." I used to love to just stare at these and feel uneasy.

From the sounds of it the water situation is Cali is not going to get any better this year...
http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed...313-story.htmlCalifornia has about one year of water left. Will you ration now?
[...]
Right now the state has only about one year of water supply left in its reservoirs, and our strategic backup supply, groundwater, is rapidly disappearing. California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain.[...]

According to Wikipedia, Israel gets 40% of its water through desalination. When push comes to shove, California is going to have build those nuclear and desalination plants. What's going on right now can't continue.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostFrom the sounds of it the water situation is Cali is not going to get any better this year...

I remember a severe drought in the late 80s/ early 90s, the difference now is probably around 10 million more people at least. The amount of precipitation will remain the same over a long period of time, but that's not enough. Build the desalination plants for the people that live within 50 miles of the coast, which is an overwhelming majority of the population, and keep the snow runoff for agriculture.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Apparently they're close to finishing up a desalination plant in Carlsbad.
Here's a novel thought, take money away from the high speed rail boondoggle (what is it with libs and choo choo trains?) and attempt to shore up your water needs.Part of it is based on academic grounds.
