Does a school like Coker offer a degree for that?

      No, it's only offered online.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

      • There is nothing wrong with CA that what is right with CA can't fix.

        Better:

There is nothing wrong with CA that can not be fixed by what is right with CA.

See, I used to think that way, but not anymore. CA's mythic new industry that's going to come along and save everyone as did the film/housing/military/high tech/etc.. well, I just don't see it. And the environment there gets worse and worse for startups, so new industries will be hard pressed to build anything without govt interference which will slow down development and profits. Maybe tourism still works?

NYC has never really declined while New York State as a whole has had declining influence (at least electorally) over the past several decades.

California will have the same fate, but San Francisco will always be the banking and tech capital on the west coast. Los Angeles will probably always remain the entertainment capital. The rest of the state outside of the coasts will decline.

SF isn't seen as the banking capital anymore. I don't really care but that's what the money people say.

Who are these money people? And what would be the capital in the West?

L.A. Maybe they are wrong. I do not care what the financial capital of the West Coast is. I report, you decide.

Of course that's what El Lay people will say. Besides, I heard Reno's giving everyone a run for their money.

Obviously things aren't as concentrated out west as it is on east coast.

Generally, the way banking has changed I am not sure you can say it is concentrated anywhere anymore. All our money is now zillions of digital chits residing in a cloud.

                      • speaking of real estate in texas. How about this house in suburban Dallas city called Rockwell. Wasn't there someone on the board who lived in Rockwell?

                          I did. Loved it.

Haven't lived there but have been there a few times. It doesn't seem like a bad place but you might have a good drive to work if you work downtown.

It looks like Dallas/Ft. Worth has a bunch of lakes in the area, which thing I had never supposed.

More accurately, a lot of reservoirs. The water supply has to come from somewhere. And during droughts the water levels can decline considerably. It's not like Texas can wait for the snow to melt in its mountains to fill them back up.
