Just keep in mind, answering some anonymous voice on the phone when asked who you will vote for isn't public expression in the minds of most people. So they may not tell their friends but they are generally telling the pollster. From the primaries there is some evidence to support this idea. In fact, at least in the states where the opposition actively campaigned against him, Trump usually even underperformed the polls even if he still won. It just that in most cases he started off far enough ahead to absorb it. Virginia for example: Trump was up by like 18 points a couple of days before voting yet only won by 3. Agree. This pretty much explains the Trump phenomenon. It's the ultimate protest vote. Most of them know Trump is full of crap. But the funny thing is, that's the whole point.
