I think, and have been saying for months, Trump wins in a landslide. Somehow everyone thinks that the guy who got more primary votes than anyone in history is just going to flop in the general election? Hilary isn't uniting the Dems, just because the networks sell that doesn't mean it is true.

The republicans are not united. You won't find a single sitting member of congress who will say they can't endorse Hillary. But there are several republicans in Congress who continue to say they can't endorse Trump. Then you have the state of Utah in a dead heat. That's insane. The GOP nominee rarely doesn't get 70% in Utah. There are serious flaws in the GOP presidential nominee this time that you don't usually see.

Also, the primary and the general election are two totally different sets of voters. Trump was leading in the national republican polls while he was winning states in the primaries. I followed it closely. Rarely did he actually perform better on election day than he was in the polls. He didn't pull off any surprises or miracles. He just did as the polls said most of the time, more often actually doing worse on election day than the polls predicted, while still often winning.

Right now he's losing in the general election polls and that gap seems to be growing. That was never a situation he was in during the primaries. To win in November Trump is going to have to do something different and well beyond what he did in the primaries, and I don't think he has the demographics to pull it off. Also, with the electoral college you have to look state by state and it's not looking very good for him there. All I'm saying is that during the primaries all the talk about how he was going to get beat eventually was happening while the polls were saying he was winning. The numbers say he's clearly losing right now, so can he do something he didn't really ever have to do before and overcome that? I don't think he will.

Just to clarify, are you talking about the votes for him or the votes against him?

Is trump uniting the Republicans? He can't even get all of the senior party leaders to back him.

Trump will likely do more to unite the Dems than Hillary will.

Your link doesn't disprove my point. I guess all those Cruz voters are flipping to Hilary in your view? Any footage of Cruz being grilled by the Texas delegates after his RNC speech would suggest otherwise. Either way he already has more voter support than anyone else running for POTUS as a republican, as your link showed.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

He might win, but I doubt it will be because of that cherry-picked stat. Yes, there was a record turnout in the primaries, but Trump got the lowest percentage of votes of any winning republican since 1968. For heaven's sake, Utah is on the verge of voting for not just a democrat, but Hillary Clinton! And guess what? The democratic primary also had a record turnout this year.

(KUTV) The Republican and Democrat national conventions are over and as the dust starts to settle, it looks like Hillary Clinton has a chance to carry Utah in the U.S. presidential election.

A June poll from the Hinckley Institute-Salt Lake Tribune shows the two are virtually tied with 35 percent for Donald Trump and 35 percent for Hillary Clinton. That is as close as a Democratic candidate has been to victory in more than half a century.

                            • Yeah - Trump got more primary votes that any prior Republican candidate. He also got more people to vote against him.

And the difference between the Democrats and the Republicans this round - as far as who is going to win - is as simple as this.

Those Republicans who voted against Trump dislike him enough that many of them are going to sit out the election. Many others are going to vote 3rd party. And some are terrified enough of his failure to convince them he's not crazy, that they're going to vote for Hillary.

On the other hand, most of the Democrats who voted for Bernie are going to turn around and vote for Hillary during the general election. And Trump has them motivated to show up at the polls. Sure - Hillary is about as uninspiring as they come. Lucky for her, her opponent is one of the more inspirational personalities we've seen run for election in some time.

that makes no sense. total votes dont signify as much as percentage of votes.
