At least he didn't call his wife and daughters "beautiful".
The irony in the Cruz failure and the Trump victory is that Cruz has, for many years, set himself up as the Washington outsider. Everything he's done in congress was focused on him playing off of the anger of the GOP voters and getting the nomination that way while the establishment nominees get roasted. In the end, Trump out Cruzed Cruz as Trump became even moreso a Washington outsider and obliterated Cruz.

I wonder if some day we look back on this election and thank Trump for keeping Cruz from possibly beating a very beatable Clinton.

      • I've voted for the Republican nominee in 10 of the last 11 presidential elections. In six months I'll be 10 for 12.

Will be fascinating to see how Utah votes.

Absolutely. As abhorrent as the candidates are, this campaign is going to be mesmerizing. Things can change, of course, but I think Hillary will take Utah.

I've been going to CB more frequently of late, and I had to laugh at one poster's comment that he expects the debates to end up with the candidates pulling each other's hair. One can only dream...

            • So does a more traditional conservative candidate emerge as a 3rd party/independent?

I can't vote for Trump. I won't vote for Hillary. I guess it is Libertarian for me.
One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

                      • For those republicans suffering from TDS, think of this election not in terms of the president but in terms of the Supreme Court. Maybe that will help.

The Libertarian Party, most likely led by Gary Johnson, will be ther most conservative party. A true conservative stint be able to run as a third party because it's too late to get on most states ballots.

I've lost all respect for him. He was never a particularly inspiring leader. It's so great he gave Utah Chaffetz and Lee.

Not a commentary on his politics, but he looks like a creeper in pictures. Something is off about him. I considered throwing my vote away last election and voting for him but his photo is unsettling.

Ha! I've thought the same thing. Something about his hair is off. Also, I didn't like that picture of him in jeans.

I've never voted for non-Republican for president. This fall will be a first.
