  • I can see why a person who has lived their entire life in the city would balk at the prospects of shooting an assault rifle. However, maybe they should leave their sheltered life and experience life in the country for once. My inlaws regularly shoot rifles on their property and think nothing of allowing kids to shoot them. Rifle safety is taught at a young age and id feel more safe around my 8 year old nephew shooting than some born and bred New Yorker.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Problem was that almost all the scouts decided they wanted to shoot with many ditching their other MB classes to wait in line at the range. A neighbor heard gunshots and drove over to see what was going on. He saw the lines and came back with his .223 AR for us to borrow and we quickly set up another shooting lane. Like your boys, everyone wanted to take a turn with the .223 AR.

The following day after church, my spouse asked what we were thinking letting 12-year old boys shoot military assault rifles on a campout. It seems my son thought the .223 AR was really an AR15 which was described by my son as "just like an M-16" to another kid who told his Mom that the scouts got to shoot assault rifles which resulted in a query to my wife on how her husband could allow that. Ward gossip grapevines can be fun. It also reached the Bishop who asked a similar question to his 2C who attended the campout.
I think I've shared this before, but on my mission I told two sister is missionaries that Brad Pitt died in a plane crash. Within the next couple months it proceeded to become common knowledge amongst the sister missionaries in my mission that Brad Pitt was in fact dead.

Apparently it was important enough to discuss with other sister missionaries but not on letters home. Chris Farley really did die, guys mentioned it to each other and everyone, I presume, knew within a few days. But I'm sure no one wrote home about it.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Funny stuff. But the person who filmed that should be shot.

You've only invested in the past 18 months? You missed the entire OBama effect! I'm not sure I'd trust you with my money.

I'd have no problem at all with well-trained, armed security guards at events like this, but allowing patrons to pack? Dark room, late at night, LOTS of dope and drinking, what could go wrong once the first shot is fired?

I had a scout leader who's dad was the owner/CEO of American Arms.

On one campout he brought a bunch of guns and we all got to shoot his American 180. Fastest shooting single barrel .22 ever made. 1,200 rounds per minute - we cut down a small tree with it. I don't recall any parents getting upset.
