I keep hearing he's a smart constitutional lawyer and a serious politician. Yeah, he can't be all that smart calling a semiautomatic a machine gun. Clearly Harvard law grads are overrated.Originally posted by Northwestcoug View PostI keep hearing he's a smart constitutional lawyer and a serious politician. I don't think we'll be hearing much about that anymore.
As for folks getting all bent out of shape because Ted is firing a gun (and we all know that guns kill people and lions named Cecil) Cruz promoting that we Texans love to eat bacon was far more offensive to me. Bacon most likely kills its good share of people as well... maybe even more than guns in the US. Nate Silver states the obvious. Trump will crash and burn.

The link to their predictions from yesterday is interesting. They all seem to think that Bush and Walker are the two frontrunners with Rubio a step behind. I agree with Bush and Walker being the two frontrunners, but I don't know about Rubio merely being a step behind. I don't see how Rubio dislodges Walker in Iowa or even runs a respectable second when the biblethumpers inevitably throw some of their support to freaking Mike Huckabee. Then, I don't see how Rubio then wins or comes in second in New Hampshire with Bush and Walker. Finally, I don't see Rubio beating Bush in Florida.
But the other thing I noted on Silver's ratings is that Kasich is the darkhorse. I think there's a possibility that Kasich comes in and overperforms in Iowa and then wins New Hampshire. Kasich is more media savvy than any candidate except Donald Trump. He was on TV for years. Unlike Trump, Kasich isn't a total clown and has a pretty good political record.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Kasich is the Republican I like the most. Seems like more of a pragmatist than an ideologue.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostYes, of course he will.

He'd be a good president but is not a good presidential candidate (kind of like Romney). But he's never lost an election. He may surprise. I'd be happy with him as POTUS.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostKasich is the Republican I like the most. Don't forget about Pataki!Originally posted by frank ryan View PostKasich is the Republican I like the most. Seems like more of a pragmatist than an ideologue.
He and Chris Christie are the best candidates in my book -- of course a pro-choice candidate like Pataki has no chance in the wacko Republican primaries.

Everything about this debate is making me uncomfortable. Now I remember why I never watch these things."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

His lead is totally mystifying. If he's leading a week away from this debate then something is obviously rigged.Originally posted by CardiacCoug View PostTrump -- what an idiot.
