  • Ben Carson Shattering Stereotype About Brain Surgeons Being Smart

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Brain surgeons, long burdened with the onerous reputation of being among the smartest people in the world, are expressing relief that the Republican Presidential candidate Ben Carson is shattering that stereotype once and for all.

    • Scott Walker is dropping out today. Mitt Romney is cackling and smoking a right blunt about now.

The Associated Press on Friday obtained a copy of Walker's book, "Unintimidated: A Governor's Story and a Nation's Challenge," before its scheduled release Nov. 19. In the book, Walker presents himself as a leader with a national vision but says Romney ignored advice he gave him during the 2012 presidential race.

Walker devotes much of the 278-page book to retelling the story of his 2011 fight to effectively end collective bargaining rights for most public workers. He recounts the massive protests that ensued and his victorious 2012 recall campaign. Walker said Romney misread the lesson from the recall and should have done more to criticize President Barack Obama.

Walker recounts an email he sent to Romney voicing his frustrations during the presidential campaign. He said he urged Romney to show more passion, get out from behind the podium and connect directly with voters "like you did to the Olympic athletes" when Romney oversaw the 2002 Winter Olympics. Walker said he got no response.

Walker writes that Republicans in 2012 didn't run on their principles and did a "lousy job of presenting a positive vision of free market solutions to our nation's problems in a way that is relevant to people's lives."

      • Scott Walker drops out. What a nosedive he took. But at least he's being realistic. Everyone except Rubio, Cruz, Trump, Bush, Kasich, Carson and Fiorina should also drop out. Maybe Huckabee should also be on the list because he's polling better than Kasich even though he has zero chance at getting the nomination. Carson should drop out in a week once everyone realizes his intelligence is confined to one thing only -- brain surgery.

Jefferey Sonnenfeld from Yale's business school, who was cited by Trump in the debate, had a great takedown of Fiorina in Politico.

Ideally, the GOP would have only Bush, Cruz, Rubio, Kasich and Trump on stage at the next debate.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Sheesh, what a horrible bunch of candidates. Not a single one presents an exciting alternative to Hillary.

          • Walker was unelectable because he doesn't have a college degree. Well, that and a bunch of other things. I'm glad he's out as he was a one trick pony.

Yeah he really is a joke. Somebody quipped that he'd make a great nosy neighbor in a sitcom.

Kasich is the guy. We need more people to drop out soon so he can get some traction. It would also help if Trump would hurry up and have his Howard Dean scream. Problem is that most of Trump's public life is a Howard Dean scream, so it's going to take an extraordinary gaffe to force him out.

I'm trying to think of a gaffe more outrageous than any of the things he has said thus far. Coming up blank.

Maybe if he called an entire group of people rapists. Or maybe if he says something demeaning about women

Gaffes to Trump are like scandals to Clinton. You just expect them so they slide right off. I find clintons email scandal disturbing and her handling of it was outrageously naive and stupid, but no one seems to really care

I've found that the people that support Trump are the anti establishment cheerleaders. The funny thing is that they can't see through the bombastic nature of Trump to realize the dude is very much like the establishment. He also has no idea what he's talking about.

I can't wait for Trump to be on Colbert this week

I'm not saying that none of them would be good as president, but they all pretty much suck as candidates. And most of them would suck as president too. I like Kasich, but he is not exciting and therefore will probably come in 5th or something.

                          • That's pretty good. A couple of weeks ago I read Carson's wikipedia page. His recent Muslim crack is par for the course.

Yeah, it appears that there is nothing he can do to dissuade his supporters from their devotion.

That said, I think Fiorina makes him uncomfortable for all the sexist reasons out there. He just doesn't respect women as equals (do I really need to say this?), so she gets under his skin when she doesn't kowtow to him. Normally he would just bully and/or insult any woman that gets in his way. It makes him uncomfortable and he feels out of place when Fiorina pushes back. The more of that we see, the more people see him uneasy, the less appealing he is.

If that doesn't happen, then I suspect he eventually grows board of it all and finds an elegant (as gaudily elegant as Trump can be) way to bow out.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

                              • Hillary will kill Trump. The press is treating Donald as entertainment and good for ratings. If he ends up going up against Hillary they will put a far different light on all of his outlandish statements.

Sadly it feels like there are 3 parties. The democrats who have their share of wacko's, but they hang together with the non-wacko's. The republicans have their wacko's who if they feel like they aren't getting their way will show the other republicans by not participating. I blame them for us having President Obama, not the democrats.

This whole thing is kind of sad. For me anyway.
