The issues should be about government intrusion and the proper role of government relative to the economy. Defense plays into the latter.
And for you to classify Millennials as a monolith makes no sense. They will care about the issues their families care about. (Many of the issues you list are dead to most voters). Professionally minded Millennials will care about much of the same issues as their parents do. The blue collar Millennials are a mystery to me, as I could understand the mentality of WWII unionists. And intersectional feminists are further mystery as they seem to want more government assistance without knowledge if those programs are likely to succeed. The distrust for government solutions seems to have declined.
