The rumor going around is Rubio is surging in Iowa. If he comes in a strong second, he could win NH. If that happens, South Carolina becomes huge and perhaps some momentum carries over to Florida which is just around the corner.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

because it would be a good thing if he wins or gets 2nd he will be 3rd as expected.

I wonder if the Sarah Palin drunk endorsement caused everyone to start taking this more seriously. I found that appearance more offensive then all the wacky stuff Trump had been saying, which I knew was just designed to keep media attention on him.

Good point. For a guy who likes to brag about how awesome he is and how amazing of a president he'll be, he sure set the bar low on endorsements. You are the company you keep and everyone who was paying attention to that little show is like ehhhh maybe we've been a bit hasty on this whole Trump bandwagon. That's the other thing. I'm now seeing staunch Republicans refer to his candidacy as the Trump Bandwagon. Interesting developments. You couldn't shut him down by just pointing to the ridiculous shit coming out of his mouth, but when Palin shows up -- party's over.

Is Rubio the guy that wants to reopen Roe v Wade fight?

I read a report that Hillary hasn't driven a car since 1996. Add that into the fact she can't use a computer or doesn't know what "wiping a hard drive" means and you have a candidate that is about as out of touch as H.W. Bush. Maybe someone during a town hall meeting should ask her how much a gallon of milk costs.

ABC news is calling Iowa for Ted Cruz, with Trump behind by four points and Rubio one point behind Trump.

Bernie is right now only down 0.5%...

I hope he wins tonight and goes on to win NH in a landslide.

Rubio didn't really beat Trump, but he essentially tied him which means something since Trump gets about 2/3 of the media coverage. The narrative this week will be about how Trump performed substantially worse at the ballot than he did in the polls. He's a paper tiger.

                            Rubio massively underperformed the polls.

Cruz's win doesn't carry over to NH.

All that said, Trump looks better in NH than he does in Iowa according to the polls.

Let the deflation of the Trump campaign begin. I don't expect him to do nearly as well in NH as the polls currently show. Losing is a real possibility.

Cruz won, Armageddon averted (for now).

I think it's unlikely that this win makes him the frontrunner. This was his state, and he was the one who had to visit 99 counties in Iowa to keep it his. I think the fact that the final vote was almost a three-way tie speaks a lot to his unlikability. I wonder if the loss will make Trump more insane sounding (likely), and further disenchant voters (hopefully likely, but who knows this year?). Rubio seems super happy that he's a third-place finish, which seems like quite a low bar. If it's between him and Cruz, I think I like Rubio a little more, even though he still sounds crazy about abortion.
