It speaks to me.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I think I found an entry on par....Originally posted by nikuman View PostFrom my facebook feed:
I am going to claim victory over this thread now.
I know who I am and I know where I am going. But, in order for me to proceed, I must do some housekeeping, literally and figuratively. So please allow me to open my vent a bit. In the words of my alter-ego Elphaba: "The artichoke is steamed"
This may surprise some, but I am not sad anymore. I have mourned and it is done. BUT, I am spitting mad and please consider yourself forewarned: If what I am about to post offends you, whoever you are, you are invited to be my quest as a fellow American citizen, with the equal right of the freedom of speech, to assert against my position. Or, go ahead and privately opt out, it's your call. However, should you cowardly stew, don't kid yourself that this too, shall pass, I suggest you save yourself some grief and go ahead and defriend me if you cannot stomach my due outrage, disgust and umbrage upon the wall of what is no less than my public daily journal. I am not afraid of the scorn & ridicule of those who oppose my ideals & principles. What I do fear is disappointing God for not using up every single ounce of talent and blessing He gives me, therefore I boldly and stridently stand for truth & righteousness. I don't do "politically correct" because frankly, that term does not translate to civil discourse. To be precise, "politically correct" is code that translates to the covert intended purpose to erode, at the very least, the ENTIRE 1st Amendment-
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
For the eye-rolling types out there, you may want to review an earlier model of "politically correct" as it was mandated by a certain infamous fascist by brushing up on Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party.
Now, onto opening my vent a smidge to let off some pressure.
Concerning the devastating results of last night, our very existence as the Republic, as she was founded, with US as her trusted stewards, was at stake during this election and the impact of our loss has not settled in, but I will not down play the harsh reality, we are now further into very troubled waters. Reality checks abound for the generations of our day, including that voting alone is no longer enough to sustain our form of self government.
Over the 12 years I have spent toiling to learn and act as a wise steward in our government for both myself and on behalf of my family, whenever speaking on what I call "politicivics", I have been told at times by others they are too busy to get involved in such matters of government; or that they are not interested; or that they are turned off by the vitriol; or that whoever is POTUS does not matter. I have been told that whatever we do makes no difference and that all politicians are corrupt. Not only are every single one of those excuses pathetic, here is a newsflash- Not "doing" politics is still doing politics, for you actually play right into the snares of the enemy of freedom and liberty. In other words, you are condoning the that which is wrong by tacit approval. One of my favorite Rush songs rings out this solemn truth: "If you choose not to decide, you have still have made a choice".
If you did nothing but vote, you too are due a thank you but I have to bring something to your attention. Here is the heads up I personally learned after the 2008 election: The day will come soon when you will realize how badly you were needed to do more than just vote in 2012. You will understand you had the opportunity, responsibility and the just cause which will make you long for a do-over for 2012. It's gut-wrenchingly painful, trust me, I've been there and done that but remember that the purpose of the coming lesson in accountability is to teach in order to improve, not to torment you with no way to resolve what has taken place. Get involved because you are needed to help the side that works and wins in the end.
To ALL of those who worked against Mitt Romney, regardless of party: You fools. You are going to get the government you deserve. I question if you truly understand the party you did or did not vote for. I pray you and Barack Obama will turn your hearts to God.
What has happened in the 2012 elections, from start to finish STUNS me beyond comprehension because of the blatant disregard of common sense and common decency in our society. There is NO room for entertaining a party that has denounced God and Israel. There is NO excuse for calling that which is good evil and that which is evil good. And there is NO tolerance for ideals that counter the foundation of this still free Republic. And there will NEVER be a surrender of our conscience to those who have sold us out under Barack Obama's insidious campaign to "fundamentally transform the United States of America".
Mitt Romney was the most unsullied, humble, worthy candidate whose endeavor was to serve in the office of POTUS with honor and integrity, to help us SAVE the Constitution of the United States. He would NOT have failed us. I am so grateful for his willingness to run and for his family's support.
I know so many Patriots who did whatever you could to help. No matter your contribution, even if it was to actively learn in order to prepare for the next battles, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your valiant & variety of needed efforts. Not a single act was for naught. I am humbly grateful for your association and your inspiring examples to me & my precious family.
The time is late. Our homes, our very lives need to be put in order. We have been in the war between good & evil all along and today we find ourselves having lost a major, hard fought battle with many of the 2012 elections, but have not yet lost this war and we do not back down, ever. We know how this ends, don't we...even you Atheists out there know how this ends. And if by chance you do not know how this ends, please, I urge you to turn away from willful ignorance and turn to God now; seek His truths and the healing atonement of Jesus Christ.
Now, none of us, not any one of us, who has heard the call to stand on the line for our Republic, is excused to pack it up and turn our back on our nation and our children. I said before this is over that I am not going away & I was sincere. We must fortify our individual positions, endure the battles and not retreat.
Post the colors.
In the metaphorically profound words of the fallen patriot hero of the modern day, Andrew Breitbart, #WAR."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

No. Some people on both sides mistakenly believe those on the other side have less value. But I see it becoming a general issue with conservatives. You can just read comments on this board about the electorate after Obama's win to see examples. This concept is sometimes expressed in economic terms and sometimes in social or moral terms.Originally posted by byu71 View PostBut only the republicans think others are of less value?
Why do you think republicans donate more to charities if they value others less? I can't phathom that you would think I find you of less value because you are not a republican.
Compare this election to 2004 for example. Democrats lost then and the primary complaints were about process and the poor quality candidate Democrats had put up. Republicans lose now and what I hear most is that half of America is stupid, or they don't understand reality, or they are all just takers who want something free, etc. Not only is that line of thinking incorrect and dangerous, it leaves me wondering how proponents of those beliefs plan to meaningfully participate in the Democracy in the future.Last edited by calicoug; 11-08-2012, 06:13 AM.

Hmm... sounds like you would be very much in favor of your cousin's (Rmoney's) tax plan of eliminating deductions.Originally posted by SoonerCoug View PostI don't pay much attention to my taxes. A voice of sanity from my feed, from an 18 year-old college freshman:
Everyone should stop complaining about the negatives of Obama. Sure maybe hes not the best president we've ever had, but he's done a lot of good things as well. Romney had many negatives and positives himself too so either way not everyone can be happy. Stop complaining and look at the positive side of things. Rupublican hot shots on NPR this morning: Romney got a greater percentage of white male votes than anyone in history. He got as high a percentage of white votes as Reagan or Nixon. Of course we know that few white gays voted for Romney. Republicans have maxed out their consituency, and if they don't broaden it the party is screwed. Whites are an increasingly smaller share of the demographic. He got less than 30% of people of color votes, inclding Asians, who were around 25%. The silver lining is a large number of promising young people of color Republican politicians. Why didn't Romney pick one of them for VP?When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Quote I heard and loved on NPR this morning (from a Repub big shot): Immigration hate talk is like smoking. Republican candidates know it will kill them, but they do it anyway.
They said that Romney was more strident than he had to be in this, probably to correct for his moderate history. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
