The right question is this: can you see Romney as a viable Presidential alternative?

After the last two weeks, the answer is unequivocally yes. Obama, unable to run on his own record, has tried to paint Romney as unfit for the Presidency. He has failed at that, and that's why he'll probably lose the election. All of the punditry wonking about minor debate points really is just seeing the trees instead of the forest.
The only debate that history will remember was the first.

          • I didn't watch, but I listened. From that perspective, I thought it was a draw. Maybe the nonverbal stuff didn't go over well for romney. As a side note, my galaxy S3 with magic keyboard corrects romney to donkey.

Maybe why I thought it was a draw is because I agreed with both on many issues. You shouldn't have to be polar opposites on everything.

There was one stretch where donkey hit an out of the park homer when he talked about how great a nation we are and we didn't choose the calling, but we are the leaders.

CBS had Obama winning the first debate. It really doesn't matter.

              • Stronger leader? Obama, 51 to 46.
                Likable, Obama, 47 to 46.
Who attacked more? Obama, 68 to 21.

I agree. I like watching debates and judging who technically won the debate. But the real winner in these events is not always the technical winner. Romney did what he needed to do tonight. Technically he had his head handed to him. Battle vs war. I think Romney came closer to winning the war tonight.

                          • After watching a handful of the 20 or so GOP primary debates, the VP debate and three Presidential debates, I've concluded that this is the worst Frank Luntz focus group to date. A lot of oddballs in Florida.

                            • Interesting tweet from MSNBC Obama toady Chuck Todd:

POTUS is consistently trying to draw Romney into a more contentious debate. It's what challengers do who think they are behind.
