Obama failing to cut his Vegas trip short with all this madness should cost him the election.Originally posted by Moliere View PostIs Obama still in Vegas or is he at the Jay-z concert today? I'm having a hard time keeping up with his demanding schedule.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Ignoring his duties in order to campaign is the one thing Obama knows how to do.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostObama failing to cut his Vegas trip short with all this madness should cost him the election.

I wonder if Reagan were in his first term as President if all this crap would be going on?Originally posted by Flystripper View PostNow several universities are being evacuated due to threats? University of Texas being one of them. Something is going on.
The other thing it makes me think about is how much chaos the few can create if the many are apathetic. From what I have seen the protestors in these countries are in the hundreds or thousands, not thousands and thousands.
It is like the Occupy Wall St. folks and the press calling it a "major" movement.
Even at that, I think like the President finally did, we need to let the leaders of these countries know we won't stand idly by and be shit on.
The guy on the other end talking to President Obama may question if he really means it. I am pretty sure if he was talking to Reagan, he knew he meant it.

The White House travels with the President. Jimmy Carter held himself hostage in the White during 1980 campaign, and it didn't help get the hostages home or him win the election.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostObama failing to cut his Vegas trip short with all this madness should cost him the election."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. I see you watched CNN last night.Originally posted by wuapinmon View PostThe White House travels with the President. Jimmy Carter held himself hostage in the White during 1980 campaign, and it didn't help get the hostages home or him win the election.
I can't remember what the incident was, shows how significant it was, but Bush went to his Ranch a few days later. The Press really beat up on him for doing so. Now in this case the press says "the White House travels with the President".
The good thing is I think most of the press doesn't even claim to be unbiased anymore.Last edited by byu71; 09-14-2012, 09:09 AM.

I watch no television news, and no, I did not watch CNN last night or any time in recent memory.

SOmetimes governing should take precendence to campaigning. He could govern from Las Vegas, but that is not what he did.Originally posted by wuapinmon View Post

Oh, I get it, I just think it's a little too FoxNewsy for me.Originally posted by Moliere View PostI don't think you get it.
I'm not voting for him again, but I think this notion is a quaint one that really has no grasp on the realities of governing. It's not like he ignored the situation or had to devote hours on end to brain-storming solutions to something. His team could present options to him as the situation developed and he could then delegate his decisions to them. Who's to say that he didn't do that? I don't think that governing involves sitting at a desk for a perquisite amount of time to satisfy some "too soon" notion of the opposition. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.Originally posted by Jarid in Cedar View PostSOmetimes governing should take precendence to campaigning. I do because it makes sense. The President is the leader, not the building. He has all the capabilities of conferencing and networking on the road as he does in his office, which is largely ceremonial.Originally posted by byu71 View PostThen you must think like them. Ceremony matters in tragedy. Just ask Rudy Giuliani. it's called leadership."Discipleship is not a spectator sport.
