"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I'm convinced... I say we send Jay Carney over there to convince the protesters as well.Originally posted by kccougar View PostYou guys arguing over the administration's policies toward the middle east are way off the mark. This is all just because of a youtube video.

It has always been so. It is even built into our constitution, to a degree. Like athenians, our rights dont apply to non-citizens who arent yet here. Guantonomo anyone?Originally posted by Solon View PostSo, by this reasoning, democratically-elected American force should be able to push around or prop up or otherwise manipulate foreign nations in its own interests. Western ideals take a backseat to political and economic self-interest.
This is another question.I'm not surprised, but I think people should acknowledge the compromise in their values. I'm also not naive enough to think it doesn't, or even shouldn't happen. I'm all for protecting American interests, yet perhaps it's time to revise what American interests really are.
thank goodness we arent a democracy.Democracy in action.PLesa excuse the tpyos.

GOOD HELL! WTF is that about? If it's just about the video then what in the hell does the embassy have to do with it?Originally posted by kccougar View PostYou guys arguing over the administration's policies toward the middle east are way off the mark. This is all just because of a youtube video.

I have a hard time trying to figure out who I should be more angry at: the dipshits attacking our embassies, or the inept administration that seems to be incapable of comprehending what is happening.Originally posted by pellegrino View PostGOOD HELL! The video was allegedly made by an American. The embassy is the symbol of America in these countries (also unsurprising violence is spreading to American businesses like KFC in Egypt and elsewhere).Originally posted by pellegrino View PostGOOD HELL! Are people really suggesting this has nothing to do with the video? That position seems to fly in the face of the facts available.

Tell that to Jim Carney, White House Press secretary. It's his argument, not mine. I've never seen such a twisted spin on the facts.Originally posted by calicoug View PostThe video was allegedly made by an American. It also depends on when you hear what he says. I saw a clip where he claimed these people are NOT rioting against America, Americans or this administrations policies. They shout, Obama, Obama we are Osama. They have signs slandering America. They burn American flags. This is going on in 20 countries and yet, "they are not rioting against America,............".Originally posted by pellegrino View PostTell that to Jim Carney, White House Press secretary. This admin is in chaos on the event and how to respond, yet the media focus's on what Romney said. Pathetic.

Wow? Really? Of course this is directed at the U.S. This film is simply a catalyst that ignites underlying anti-American sentiments. It's very overly simplistic and truly amateur hour to say that this is all just because of a YouTube video.Originally posted by calicoug View PostWow.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Yes, it had nothing to do with the video. The video came out in June. Why wait until Sept 11 to be outraged?Originally posted by calicoug View PostThe video was allegedly made by an American. Israel is about took do something with Iran. Fire up the ignorant pliable Islamic street - get 'em all pissed off over a video - and get them pissed-off at the us so that when Israel starts it with Iran, the US thinks a time or two before supporting them. And then use your pissed off masses to topple every non-islamic regime in the region, destablize the entire region, and let the mullahs take over completely.
All the works out fine for those pulling the strings, unless Israel gets pushed too far and starts lobbing a few of its several hundred nukes to put the fear of the be true god in its Islamic neighbors. God help us if it comes to that - especially if that bastard Putin decides to intervene.
The middle east has been.a powder keg since 9/11. For a while the region feared the power that the US was projecting into the area. Obama's policy has explicitly been to stop projecting power. The US is no longer feared or respected. This latest series of events is the calculated insertion of a fuse into the powder keg. The US's impotence in its response lit the match. Israel doing anything will set it all off.
It had nothing to do with the movie - except as a method to incite the ignorant and easily incitable. It had everything to do with the perceived shortest oath to strengthening of the caliphate, ridding it of the presence of the now impotent great Satan, and potentially wiping Israel off the map. If it comes down to the last point, millions of the easily incitable could pay the ultimate price for being the puppets that they are.
And at this point, Obama refuses to meet with Netenyahu. That action isolates Israel, and forces them to rely on their nukes for defense. What in the hell is Obama thinking?.

Which facts are you relying on? That someone said it was the video? Why did it happen on 9/11? Doesn't that strike you as just a teensy odd given how long the video has been floating around?Originally posted by calicoug View PostThe video was allegedly made by an American. Does anyone have a link to this video? I would love to see what it is about and how it mocks the prophet.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostWow? Really?
