How sad. By all accounts the ambassador was doing everything in his power to help Lybia. Secretary Clinton said the perpetrators were a minority and actually Lybians on the scene helped other Americans escape. The President of Lybia has strongly condemned the action.

Whether spin or not the Lybians at least are trying to seem remorseful.

The leadership in Egypt to my knowledge has said nothing. I have nothing new that leads me to believe the administrations response was weak at best. I haven't heard or read anything that leads me to believe Romney has stepped on his dick. What did he say that has the MSNBC's Chuck Todd and I guess other press folks saying he did?

My first reaction is to send in the troops and burn the place down, destroy everyone who gets in our way or starts to protest. Make them pay for their actions.

But then I back up and try to figure out in my own mind what kind of thinking leads to this.

I start to ask myself if the folks who are their protesting already believe that the US sends troops and does whatever it wants anyway - and that doing so now isn't really a response to their actions but is just more evidence that their actions are justified.

I hear that some stupid youtube video is what has riled folks up, and my first reaction is "why to they blame the US government for something some dorks did that they find offensive?" Apparently some religious leader was telling people that the US was going to broadcast it nation-wide. Morons.

But as I consider their frame of reference, I wonder if or how a religious/political video could ever be produced and broadcast in their area. And I realize it would never happen without being sanctioned by the government - so I can see how they could be convinced that the US government is behind this.

I don't say these things to justify the actions of those who have attacked and killed or even just gathered in mobs to protest. But it helps me to cut them a little slack. I see them as dumb sheep. They are simply tools who are being led around by those who would incite them and direct their actions.

I don't know if/how the US can ever have the credibility to convince the crowds that they just want peace and aren't out to fight their religion. But the folks who need to pay when these things happen are the ones behind the scenes pulling the strings and playing the puppets.

Dang, This is just going to get worse. Obama has to put on his leader pants. He may have to make some, can't pass this on to Pelosi or Harry.
( FYI I most likely wrote that incoherently and will be properly corrected forthwith. Thanks)

I can't imagine what the family of these individuals are going through.. I pray they do not venture into the internet to find these horrible photos/actions done to their loved ones..

No response IMO.. Is not an option... And a statement is not enough...

Again, the question I ask why is the small amount of criticism I am hearing from the press directed to Romney and not Pres. Obama? What is the spin. Maybe I will just have to wait until I get home and watch Crissy Mattews and Rachel Maddow.

The ambasador was moved to a "safe" location which was subsequently disclosed to the mob.

Wanis al-Sharef, a Libyan Interior Ministry official in Benghazi, said the four Americans were killed when the angry mob, which gathered to protest a U.S.-made film that ridicules Islam's Prophet Muhammad, fired guns and burned down the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

He said Stevens, 52, and other officials were moved to a second building - deemed safer - after the initial wave of protests at the consulate compound. According to al-Sharef, members of the Libyan security team seem to have indicated to the protesters the building to which the American officials had been relocated, and that building then came under attack.

One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

He politicized an attack on the USA. Instead of circling wagons, he started shooting at the president during the fight.

The Middle East will continue to be a critical focus of our foreign policy and given Obama's very odd handling of Libya, Egypt, Syria, Israel, Palestine and especially Iran, I think it has to be pounded home by Romney the problems with Obama's leadership, or lack thereof, in the Middle East.

Really? So Obama and Biden labled him a lightweight or less on foreign policy and so I guess he is supposed to keep his mouthshut on anything that happens internationally.

I think Hillary in her talk while promoting freedom of religion condemned anyone using religion as an excuse to commit these acts. Not only in Lybia, but also Eqypt. I wonder if the press will criticize her too.

I think Romney should have initially spared Obama from blame with his statements yesterday.

With that said, I think the "leading from behind" thing is going to raise its head as this story plays out. Although it explicitly refers to America's role in Libya, it can also be attributed to what's happened in Egypt which is an unmitigated disaster. Obama actively called for Mubarek to step down and then has done virtually nothing to influence the aftermath. For some reason he didn't do the same thing with the nutjob in Iran when they were having uprising there a few years ago.

Egypt is a big country, it has over 82 million people which means its bigger than Iran. Egypt becoming radicalized is a huge problem and Obama bears some blame here.

So we went from a guy who kept the peace with Israel and was reasonably accommodating to American interests to the Muslim Brotherhood which supposedly coordinated the attacks both in Cairo and in Libya.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                          Obama's response was pathetic.

Romney may have been better off condemning the attack and outlining what he would do in this situation.

Regardless, Romney can do nothing right.

Obama didn't have an intelligence briefing this week -- on the week of the anniversary of 9/11. He was too busy sitting down with David Letterman and some rap DJ.

Same reason he is too busy to meet with the PM of Israel. This administration is horrible, but the media is too busy giving Barack a blow job to even notice.
