I'm not sure if you'll count ballot results as approval ratings, but Equatorial Guinean president Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo won the last election with 96.7% of the vote. He had predicted he would win with 97.1%; what a loss of face!

I know what your getting at, and I agree there is a lot more that needs to be fixed, but the bloated military budget needs to at least be part of the equation.

Sometimes I'm mystified by Mitt Romney. First he picks a running mate with a ton of baggage and then his Super PAC (we all learned this past week that campaigns coordinate directly with Super PAC's right?) produces an ad essentially putting some of this baggage on full display. Lol, what a moran.

Absolutely...in the spirit of compromise and to show that everyone should have skin in the game. But from a purely mathmatical standpoint...not really.

Romney chose Paul Ryan, seven-term Congressman from Wisconsin and most importantly, chair of the House Budget Committee. In doing so, Romney has elevated his campaign above the silly-season distractions that have plagued the 2012 campaign. This signals that Romney wants to draw a clear contrast in both governing philosophy and gravitas between the GOP and Democratic tickets.

This sentiment may attribute more brilliance to Romney than he actually deserves. Obama hammered him throughout July on a number of fairly petty matters. If picking Ryan really does allow Romney to start framing the debate, then Obama outspent Romney by millions (while being outraised by millions) on yesterday's news. It may be too much to suggest that the Romney campaign is that cunning, but the Ryan pick does show that Romney means business, and could do much to put a tougher month behind him in preparation for the showdown.
