This sounds like something for Ryan to aspire to, 96.7%. He's already at 81%, so he's within shouting distance.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

    • Apparently Paul Ryan is going to be the next president. Romney said so:

It seems like there's one objective in this speech: don't call Ryan the "next President"

I know what your getting at, and I agree there is a lot more that needs to be fixed, but the bloated military budget needs to at least be part of the equation.

After seeing that killer ad I can certainly see why the Dems said they are "salivating" over Romney's choice of Ryan.

Absolutely...in the spirit of compromise and to show that everyone should have skin in the game. But from a purely mathmatical standpoint...not really.

A 25% cut wold make a big difference, and we could probably still blow up anyone we wanted to.

                  • Romney's VP pick may "end silly season," according to this CNN opinion.

                    http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/11/opinio...html?hpt=hp_t1

Romney chose Paul Ryan, seven-term Congressman from Wisconsin and most importantly, chair of the House Budget Committee. In doing so, Romney has elevated his campaign above the silly-season distractions that have plagued the 2012 campaign. This signals that Romney wants to draw a clear contrast in both governing philosophy and gravitas between the GOP and Democratic tickets.
This sentiment may attribute more brilliance to Romney than he actually deserves. Obama hammered him throughout July on a number of fairly petty matters. If picking Ryan really does allow Romney to start framing the debate, then Obama outspent Romney by millions (while being outraised by millions) on yesterday's news. It may be too much to suggest that the Romney campaign is that cunning, but the Ryan pick does show that Romney means business, and could do much to put a tougher month behind him in preparation for the showdown.

                            Ah.

Later in the week, a memorial service for the victims of the shooting prompted the campaign to change its planned announcement. Myers said the vice-presidential event was originally slated for Friday in New Hampshire, but that date conflicted with the service.

Um... It's about a quarter of all federal spending.
