I was told by my liberal facebook friends that Ryan hates women and believes all women should be paid 75% of what men are paid. Also, since he is vagina-less, he shouldn't have a say on abortion laws.

I bet there are a lot of people who worry that the former elected governor of the most liberal state in the country and architect of the model for the president's health care reform plan has the potential to be moderate enough.Originally posted by DU Ute View PostMy vote doesn't matter, but I've been waiting for Mitt to do something to show he is more moderate on social issues. This wasn't it. I'm sure there are more than a few people who are looking for the same thing who live in states where their vote matters. At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

More on Medicare.Originally posted by calicoug View PostI guess I shouldn't be surprised anymore, but Republican arguments that Obama cut Medicare are incredible.
The Health Care law did, in fact, cut $500 million from Medicare, but only by reducing fraud and overpayments to private insurance companies. Republicans favored those cuts (who wouldn't). Now that they have promoted the Chief Medicare Cutter to VP nominee, they are trying to make the argument that it is the Democrats who want to cut Medicare.
Here's a good ABC fact check on this exact point:
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics...0-billion-tax/
Look- if Republicans want to cut Medicare, then fine. They want this to be a campaign on ideas, so make it just that. But advertise the ideas they support and attack the actual ideas Dems support. Let's see who wins.
Based on the Republican lies about what the health care law does, I'm guessing we all know who wins.

If there is a place for CUF Greatest Hits, this statement simply must be in it:

I agree that defense spending should be on the table. I'm not really sore at Romney/Ryan for sticking to party line during the campaign, but would be surprised if they didn't propose cuts down the road.Originally posted by DU Ute View PostA 25% cut wold make a big difference, and we could probably still blow up anyone we wanted to.

So, is Cali done telling us all how uninteresting Ryan is as a VP pick?"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I'm more offended that Obama knew that fraud was there and he waited until his second term to do anything about it.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostIf there is a place for CUF Greatest Hits, this statement simply must be in it:

Fraud is rampant in Medicare (as in the insurance industry in general). Fixing it requires constant changes and updates. The cuts in the health care bill were designed to target fraud. Still a lot more work needed (and will be always).Originally posted by Moliere View PostI'm more offended that Obama knew that fraud was there and he waited until his second term to do anything about it.
Not sure why this is so unbelievable to you and others. Independent groups will tell you the same thing.

Ryan to Bob Schieffer on 60 Minutes: People aren't asking "Where are the tax returns?" they're asking "Where are the jobs?" This is the kind of sharp political one-liner that is not Mitt's strength, but sure seems to be Ryan's.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

What I'm seeing from the "fraud" crackdown is Medicare looking for opportunities to deny payments based on the small and meaningless documentation errors. That's the "rampant" fraud I've witnessed.
