  • Not on human but on a dog.. Left a dog lying in a street until 90 minutes later it finally died. All the while people were willing to take the animal to give him the care needed..

B*turd police. The least they could have done shot the dog to put him out of his misery.

      • The vet agreed with the police. Sorry, no dice on this one.

What were these passers by going to do, exactly? Were they trained in animal care? Or were they simply going to pet the dog as it died? Better yet, lift it up and try to move it without knowing its injuries?

disallowing random pedestrians from "helping" isn't the problem. Not being able to procure professional help within 90 minutes is the issue. I wonder why it took so long.

I would say that is why many of them started to protest in frustration and offered to help. They saw the animal suffering and wished to help. That is the issue. I see why they did not opt to put him out of his misery. That alone would of been a PR nightmare, but the inaction is just as bad of a PR Nightmare. Moving, or comforting the animal is better than being left to die alone.. Even for an animal.. They look cold and heartless in all of this and the head Police spokesperson didn't help their cause when he was interviewed.

            • Bizarre example of police brutality. Doesn't really seem like there's much of an argument that the police didn't do the right thing here.

                  • I'm sick of cops shooting dogs! This incident is particularly eggregious. Cop enters homeowners backyard unannounced and kills dog.

Is there a potential lawsuit there for trespassing or destruction of property? Are officers allowed to search your property looking for a missing child? What if they had uncovered a meth lab; would the evidence be admissible? Why wouldn't you just pepperspray or tase the dog rather than a headshot?

We had this happen to our next door neighbor a few years ago. Some kids were messing around (trespassing) on a golf course in our neighborhood. The police were summoned and in trying to figure out where the kids had gone, walked up our neighbors driveway. Their son came out of the house with their dog. The cop thought it was a threat and it wasn't on leash. He felt unsafe and ended up shooting the dog. My wife was pretty shaken up by the whole thing. I was working that night but she took the dog to the vet. There wasn't anything that could be done to save the dog.
