Will they make it? Probably not, says University of Chicago physicist Robert Rosner ("I will never say never. But it would be astonishing if they succeed.")

But, if they don't, maybe the goal line will move, and fusion power will now only always be FIVE years away.

That sounds pretty incredible. I wonder if there's enough lithium to scale it.

Time to start mining those deep-sea nodules.

I might consider getting an EV if they can pull it off

It is tough to overstate what a game-changer that would be. There would be no reason to own an ICE car after that.

This would also be a game-changer for my son's electric taxi (EVTOL) company. They would have greater range and/or higher payload. And as luck would have it, Toyota is their biggest investor.

Hopefully, this isn't yet another breakthrough announcement that doesn't pan out.

If I got one, would I have to drive like other Toyota drivers.

                • Well maybe I'll hold off on the Rivian for a couple of more years then.

If you like Rivians, you may want to buy it while you still can. I doubt they'll be around in a couple of years.

Not the way they are proliferating in town. I see a ton of them.

Probably won't get one anyways. Mrs. NWC will likely never get over her short stature complex and will always want a big truck. Not enough room in the garage for 2 trucks

I’ve only seen a couple of them in Houston but their Amazon delivery trucks are everywhere by my house.

That reminds me how sometimes when I'm talking to one of my buddies on the phone, I'll close with, "Love you too..." for the benefit of the missus.
