I think he is a fine guy, too but if you are going to be so macho as to agree with the food storage and gun issue, well then, nobody would like you much in that situation.Originally posted by tooblue View PostI like meanie, but disagree with him. I didn't think his post was mean spirited. To me he was being blunt and honest.

For those who support it, please tell me why if Obamacare is such a great idea, why the hell did he and the rest who shoved it down our throats exempt themselves and all their progressive union pals from it?"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

The two biggest problems with our healthcare system were not touched by obamacare, and perhaps even worsened: the coupling of insurance with employment, and lack of cost sharing.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostBFM's point of view is legit. My own view is close to his, but a bit different. We have (consciously or not) made a decision in the USA that we won't leave people utterly without healthcare. We call it our "safety net." Once we cross that line, there are many and varied consequences. One is that we have to figure out how to pay for such a societal ethic. I think that the best way to do that is to set up a system that mimics, so far as possible, market forces, even though the level of government involvement in the marketplace has distorted it. (Most obvious example: The person requesting healthcare servies is not the one paying for them. Medicare, or an insurance company, does.)
Still, there are ways to allow market forces to have a beneficial effect. The Federal Employee Health Benefit Program, oddly enough, is a good example. Paul Ryan's Medicare proposal borrows some ideas from FEHBP:
There are good ideas out there. It's a shame that Obamacare was rammed through the way it was without a real public debate and the compromises that are supposed to be made in a system of checks and balances. The law is full of bad, unworkable ideas that will remove market forces from the system, to the detriment of all of us.
Sorry, you guys got me going. Sermon over!At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

This is true. I think they should reverse the tax incentives and get people to buy insurance with a high deductible. Visits for strep throat are ipncredibly stupid and it basically increases insurance premiums for everyone. Co-pays should either be outlawed or be a minimum of $100. People should be conscious of what things cost and the ones receiving the treatment should be paying a lot more instead of insurance. Insurance should be for catastrophic events. My auto insurance doesn't cover my oil changes.Originally posted by Babs View PostThe problem is that they're going to the ER for strep throat.
There is no one in this country without access to health care. We just have a mindblowingly inefficient way of subsidizing it.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Agreed. Moderate Jon Huntsman, possible 2012 candidate, tests the waters in today’s GOP
A real puff piece, although the post calls him a "moderate," a label the Huntsman team is running away from, for now.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

The obsession in SLC with whether he's a practicing Mormon or not really bugs me. It should be irrelevant to the discussion yet to many it's the one factor that turns them off from him. I did like his line "I probably add to that diversity" but it's only going to fuel more fire under the crazy Mormons.Originally posted by YOhio View PostGood interview with George S."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. I think your irritation over the issue makes you overstate the passion of those who are curious about his religious beliefs.Originally posted by Moliere View PostThe obsession in SLC with whether he's a practicing Mormon or not really bugs me. Interesting interview and I do not mind his answer regarding his Mormonism. However, Utahns have a right to ask the question if only to help them figure out if he's a political chameleon. He certainly would not have given this answer when he was running for governor.

You know, now that J.Huntsman is getting more face time, and I've been able to see him from a number of different angles, I have to say... he LOOKS like a wanker. He looks fine on a motorcycle, but behind a lectern, he looks like a wanker. Too skinny, and the camera always seems to catch him mouth breathing or with kissy monkey lips.

In my opinion there is entirely too much discussion on what kind of a POTUS he would make and not nearly enough about what a FLOTUS Mary Jayne would make.
And what do we even know about Herman Cain's wife anyway?
