First year research by Abbott in Texas reveals over 1-Billionnis costs to hospitals in Texas.

Illegal immigrants rack up $1B+ in Texas hospital costs in FY 2025, total likely higher: report

Texas hospitals were hit with more than $1 billion in health care costs racked up by illegal immigrants during fiscal year 2025, the first year the state began tracking the figures.

The data, compiled by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and obtained by Texas Scorecard, shows hospitals logged 313,742 visits linked to individuals not legally present, with total costs reaching $1.05 billion by the end of the fiscal year.

Texas’ fiscal year runs from Sept. 1 through Aug. 31, but hospitals were only required to begin reporting in November. Based on the reported data, costs averaged about $105 million per month, meaning the true annual total could be significantly higher.

I'm so glad ICE is deporting 5 year old citizens:

A Central Texas mother and her 5-year-old daughter, a U.S. citizen, have reportedly been deported this week by Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE). This comes less than a week after the pair were arrested by ICE agents after the Austin Police Department (APD) officers notified federal agents.

No US citizens involved in your counter example.

Not that the Clinton decision was good, but further that was a reunification decision. In this case they were already together and it is uprooting citizens that probably shouldn’t be. Why are we putting citizens in worse situations?

Elian Gonzalez was not a citizen and was returned to his parent who was also not a citizen. His mother died on the boat ride to the US. Bad example.

Mob storms Minnesota church during worship to target pastor they say has ICE ties

A swarm of anti-ICE protesters burst into a St. Paul, Minnesota, church in the middle of Sunday service and accused a pastor of working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The demonstrators with the Racial Justice Network stormed into the Cities Church and called out resident pastor David Eastwood, who they accused of moonlighting as the acting field office director for ICE in Minnesota.

A David Eastwood is listed as an employee with the field office, but it’s still unclear if that is the same man as the Cities Church pastor.
Lawful protests. Nothing to see here.

You guys love to pick and choose which contempt you have. A Mother (Who is NOT a citizen) and her daughter who is, were deported together. I guess we could have kept the daughter here but again, this came up before where Holman spoke about ensuring families stay together.

When you come here illegally and have a child, you run the risk of being deported. These situations are difficult and complicated but the past where they saw it as a path to remain here as we would order is a risk she took. A path many used as a manipulation tactic.

This whataboutism of this being 20 years ago or 1-year ago. The same issue remains the same. Excuses for not doing it now and why it was ok then. In Frank’s attempt to explain the situation and deporting him back home was about reuniting him with his father. Rings true here as Mother and daughter were returned to HER home country together.

One situation was about reuniting a family that was already apart and one was about possibly splitting one apart or greatly upending their lives to keep them together (but not the only options). I agree the timeline doesn't matter, here, but in general it is a pretty terrible whataboutism.

It wasn't my attempt to explain the situation, it was an explanation of the situation. Take a step back from your personal animus toward me.

Whataboutism aside, the daughter should go with mom. Mom can apply for immigration from Honduras, helped by the fact that her daughter is a citizen. Daughter can choose where she lives when she is old enough. Where is dad?

Good job Austin/Texas. That's a great example of state/fed cooperation.

Happy to take a step back once your stop your “Catastrophism” attempts of everything under the sun is going to blow up our country.

Mother is an illegal, Daughter was born in America during the time she was here illegally (The whole born in America rule seems to be another topic for discussion as I do not believe our founding fathers would consider it to be used this way and in fact there have been rulings on it in the last that removed born citizen). Mother is being deported for being here illegally. Daughter is being deported to ensure the remain together.

But your belief is to allow Mother to remain because her daughter was born here. Not the law in place. Again, you run the risk when you come here illegally. You posted with your attempt to demonstrate how evil Trump is in enforcing immigration law. But withholding all the facts. A path you take in all your bullshit.

Crickets on the storming of churches pretty much demonstrates your true colors. All in the name of liberalism. You guys love to try and get conservatives to say “Bad Trump” but are left unchecked or not accountable when your “poor-defenseless law abiding protestors” are treated poorly, yet, not a single word when such disgusting actions are taken by your protestors..

I agree with the bolded statement since the 14th Amendment was not part of the original Constitution. That's why it's in an amendment. It was ratified in the aftermath of the Civil War to ensure citizenship for all those born within the United States, whether born slave or free.

The courts have consistently held that those born in the United States are citizens even if the mother's presence in the US at the time of the birth is not legal.

The Trump administration is currently challenging that holding. If they don't believe the 14th Amendment should grant citizenship in this way, they should propose a new amendment to the Constitution.
