Turns out the 3 folks killed were Haitian immigrants. Cognitive dissonance for MAGA!

Trump had a good relationship with India in his first term but for whatever reason has pursued policies this term that have damaged it and resulted in India cozying up to Russia and China instead. Immigration policy to decrease the number of visas to Indian workers s certainly one of those things.

I've peiced together that most of this is coming from the groypers who equate Indians with jews (more influential in American commerce per capita than whites, culturally closed off, take care of their own at the expense of everyone else, are ugly and smell, etc). So standard loser cry baby racists.

Is it really that difficult to trigger MAGA against brown people?
            Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

No, they think there is an invasion of wild hordes or migrants at the border and believe they are able to enter and receives oodles of freebies, like healthcare and welfare.

None of that's true but people listen to podcasts and see social media posts fueling that, it becomes their truth.

Trump invoked the emergency alien act as cover to deport people without due process.

We are not at war with Venezuela. But people have come fleeing a dictatorial socialist regime.

To be fair....this isn't the case now. But it was the case during the Biden Presidency. I believe the data is pretty clear on that, no?

Illegal immigrants are not able to get welfare. That has always been false but is one of the favorite claims of the far right media for a long time. Yes, their kids get to go to public school and other such benefits of just living here.

Semantics. There are a number of states that offered funds and benefits to undocumented immigrants directly.

There is no denying that there was a massive Influx of illegal immigration under Biden. It's probably one of the largest reasons we don't have a Democrat in the Whitehouse. A lot of people don't like the idea of a porous border. I am very pro immigration. I think Trump's in many ways unconstitutional and cruel policies to remove illegal immigrants is immoral and actively hurts the economy. But it is completely understandable why people are upset that the border was a sieve for years.

BTW, there was a discussion earlier about JD Vance being more dangerous that Trump because he is smarter. I don't buy that for a second. That is not in any way an endorsement of Vance, I just think one of the things that makes Trump so damaging is how stupid he is - in combination with all of his character flaws.

There may have a been states that provided some funding, but the assertion they qualified for food stamps, Medicaid and welfare is 100 percent horseshit.

I used to determine eligibility for those cases. They do not get any federal funds. So the jihad against special benefits for undocumented immigrants is horseshit.

I do think we largely align on this issue, but I differ because I have a strong belief that the histrionic talk about the invasion at the border is hugely overblown. I'm not saying it's not problem, but the biggest threat to the country isn't brown people but MAGA

I agree the border needs to be managed. Im disagreeing with the popular negative characterization of these immigrants coming either to kill you or for handouts, when the truth is almost all come to work. Updating the laws to allow for those who will work and contribute to the economy to come legally would significantly reduce the illegal crossings. It's not economics that makes immigration opponents passionate. It's for social and cultural reasons.

What specially is clear now? There wasn't an invasion, there was a problem. You buy that the crisis was so bad that it constituted a war or existential threat?

Also worth noting that Trump stymied bi-partisan legislation to address the issue.

It is very clear MAGA isn't so much anti illegal immigration as they aren't anti-immigration.

                                Statistically, no.
