The word you all are looking for is authoritarian. It just slips off the tongue and is accurate. Problem solved!

The problem with all the names you mentioned are that Trump doesn't care what they think. He'll use them as pawns if it meets his narcissistic needs. Trump is TACO. He isn't philosophical and doesn't care about the philosophy of those around him. They are told for the mob boss.

Look, you guys use fascism incorrectly to express the genuine concerns of his authoritarianism. But you should focus on the actual issues, not using a phrase that conjures up images of smoking stacks at concentration camps. Everyone knows that isnt happening so you are allowing soft Trumpers to dismiss your concerns while the hyberbolic applaud. As falafel said, "let's keep our eyes on what is actually happening."

Anyway, I think I've made my point.
It's not all that nebulous or complex.

Fascism didn't start and end with the Nazis. Speaking of camps, cruelly deporting immigrants to random third world countries like El Salvador, Libya and South Sudan, where they are left to rot, sometimes half a globe away from their country of origin is cruel and fascistic.

You haven't made a point by gatekeeping a term that is increasingly accurate.

"Fascism is a far-right, ultranationalist political ideology and movement characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, and the forcible suppression of opposition. It emerged in early 20th-century Europe and stands in opposition to democratic liberalism, communism, and socialism.
Key characteristics often associated with fascism include:

      - Intense nationalism, often accompanied by a desire for territorial expansion.

      - A cult of the leader and a powerful, often militaristic, state apparatus.

      - The potential use of violence to achieve political goals, along with a disdain for human rights.

      - Obsessive focus on national decline and the need for a national rebirth.

      - A belief in natural social hierarchies and the importance of unity within the group.

      - The suppression of dissenting voices and organizations, including political parties, labor unions, and intellectuals not aligned with the state narrative.

So let's go through the list:

      - Intense nationalism, often accompanied by a desire for territorial expansion. "USA is the best. Canada would be a great 51st state. " Check.

      - A cult of the leader and a powerful, often militaristic, state apparatus. Cult leader sending the military to crack down on crime in only blue states. Obvious check

      - The potential use of violence to achieve political goals, along with a disdain for human rights. ICE using violence and disregarding human rights left and right. Check.

      - Obsessive focus on national decline and the need for a national rebirth. Make America Great Again, amirite? Double check.

      - A belief in natural social hierarchies and the importance of unity within the group. Get rid of all the brown people. Check.

      - The suppression of dissenting voices and organizations, including political parties, labor unions, and intellectuals not aligned with the state narrative. Fake news. Check.

While using the term may not be helpful to the dialogue, I don't think you can really argue that Trump's 2nd term has trended very fascist.

It's fits all of those criteria. This anti-immigration stuff also involves pushing back against legal immigration. Practices are being put in place to try and denaturalize citizenship for individuals.

People like Bannon and Stephen Miller push the great replacement theory. There's no conspiracy to let brown people in the country to overthrow the white majority. That is a fascist theory. If you haven't watched American History X, rewatch and see how creepily similar Ed Norton's character's dialogue was. His Neo-Nazi character sounds like MAGA.

This is administration is riddled with fascist and fascist adjacent individuals.

What's with this explosion of anti Indian sentiment among the far right on social media the last few days? I'm not sure what the catalyst of this is but at some point you'd think JD would try to uneven in this particular culture war given his wife is a practicing Hindu of Indian descent.

Probably has to do with the fact that the Indian Prime Minister recently had a summit with Putin and Xi. And he isn't really bowing down to the US demands that they stop buying oil from Russia.
