I hope one day we get back to normalcy when it comes to gender. I think we both agree.

            Lol.

I am sure the numbers shot up after the olympic hockey losses.

Hope one day we can stop killing people off for inconvenience and value life again. And maybe. JUST maybe the joke is a way to laugh the irrational decisions that killing is OK and the rolling back of lunacy policies of butchering children's biological gender for the sake of identity before they can even vote or drink..

                  Correct, as usual.

I guy I've curled with is originally from Winnipeg. He assures me it's beautiful in the summer. But then again, he doesn't live there anymore.

You realize that these are people that are choosing to die? Canada (or "we", somehow) don't kill people for inconvenience. I am not certain you know what you are talking about.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I am not sure you do either. When a country is promoting it so heavily and you have posts like shown above, I tend to think this is being pushed at a level beyond them “just” electing to die. They are already surpassing Netherlands. Meaning the value of life and steps for approval to take their own life seems to be much easier.

Key Aspects of Canadian Assisted Death (MAiD) Law
                              • Synonyms/Terms: Known as MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying), euthanasia, or assisted suicide.
                              • Eligibility Criteria:
                                • Must be eligible for government-funded health insurance.
                                • Must be at least 18 years old and capable of decision-making.
                                • Must have a "grievous and irremediable" medical condition (serious illness, disease, or disability).
                                • Must be in an advanced state of irreversible decline in capability.
                                • Must experience enduring physical or psychological suffering that cannot be relieved under acceptable conditions.
                              • Process and Safeguards:
                                • Two independent practitioners (doctors or nurse practitioners) must assess the patient.
                                • The patient must make a voluntary request and provide informed consent.
                                • There is no mandatory waiting period, but a 90-day assessment is required if the death is not reasonably foreseeable.
                              • Expansion & Controversies: While initially for terminal cases (reasonably foreseeable death), Bill C-7 expanded access to those with chronic, non-terminal, but severe suffering. The expansion to include mental illness as a sole condition has faced significant debate and was delayed until March 2027.

There are some things in there that I don't like, but I think there is a place for euthanasia. Having seen both my parents suffer through painful drawn out deaths, I've come to accept that for some people euthanasia may have merit.

I don't like it being an option for mental health issues.
