If the unrealized tax gets passed, then you’d be paying taxes on the difference between the fair value of your home and your basis in the home. So how would you define your homes basis? If you add a pool and deck to the back for $100k would you get to add that to the homes basis? If not, why not? What types of home improvements would count towards the basis? Who determines the fair value? Zillow? County appraisers? Do you get money back if the value drops below the basis?

What about art? Are unrealized gains on art taxed? What about your 1970s ford bronco? Your Steinway grand piano?

What about your LLC? It’s not traded on an exchange so a valuation isn’t readily available. Who is going to value it and do you have to pay for a valuation every year? Right now our company pays between $40k to $250k for valuations to be done on companies.

The whole thing is stupid. Rich people do hide their gains in assets to avoid paying taxes so change the tax law to tax them when they die or ownership transfers or when it’s put in a trust.

But Elon Musk holding Tesla stock isn’t what’s driving inflation or the other fiscal issues in the world today.
I was with you until that point.

Of course you do. Because that's all MAGA has for a vision. Jill Stein likes Russian money and her ego.

You hate democrats more than "commies" because Stein is closest things politically he have to that right now.

        • So shocker, various MAGA accounts on twitter are fake and stolen identities. But now, with brave Elon in charge people are having difficulty getting these fake profiles getting taken down.

Under Musk’s leadership, X has dismantled many of the mechanisms and teams designed to safeguard against the distribution of falsehoods and conspiracy theories on the platform. The European Commission has been investigating X since last year over claims it is not in compliance with the bloc’s landmark Digital Services Act, a regulation that seeks to prevent harmful activities online and the spread of disinformation, while curtailing the power of social media platforms

He deserves scrutiny from the EU

          One model influencer said:

She has tried reporting the fake accounts to platforms – but has repeatedly been disappointed, she said. “They always say there’s not enough proof that it’s fake.” She said the only time she was successful in getting a social platform to remove a profile was when a photographer friend who had taken the pictures threatened to sue over copyright violation.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

If he admits to cutting off the head of a whale with a chainsaw and using bungee cords to strap it to the roof of a minivan, I’d vote for him on that alone.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. The US Army issued a stark rebuke of former President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign over the incident on Monday at Arlington National Cemetery, saying in a statement on Thursday that participants in the ceremony “were made aware of federal laws” regarding political activity at the cemetery, and “abruptly pushed aside” an employee of the cemetery.

“Participants in the August 26th ceremony and the subsequent Section 60 visit were made aware of federal laws, Army regulations and DoD policies, which clearly prohibit political activities on cemetery grounds. An ANC employee who attempted to ensure adherence to these rules was abruptly pushed aside,” the Army spokesperson said in the statement on Thursday. Section 60 is an area in the cemetery largely reserved for the graves of those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

That's not a game anyone associated with the GOP ticket should try and play right now. It worked with Biden but not anymore. Trump is like Abe Simpson but devoid of humanity.
