  • The US government asking social media companies to suppress misinformation in the middle of a pandemic is highly problematic, but I can at least somewhat sympathize with the motivation.

The US government asking social media companies to suppress actual facts about Hunter Biden's laptop is outrageous.

His post says the White House pressured Zuckerberg to suppress details, and that had an effect on the 2020 election. Unless he’s claiming that the deep state faction of the White House was subverting Trump in 2020, I’m betting that this is just another example of him making shit up.

You and Zuckerberg have come a long way in defense of free speech.

Zuckerberg's own letter that he wrote says that the white house pressured them to suppress information.

Tick's point still stands. Sure Trump got the agency wrong, but it's clear that factions within the US government pressured a private company to censor information that could have an impact on the election.

that is the whole point Tick. The White House, in 2020, was occupied by Trump. It was his administration. If the White House pressured zuck enough that it affected the 2020 vote, as Trump stated in that tweet, he has no one but himself to blame.

If he has the timeline right and it was the White House who pressured Zuckerberg, then he is a failure as a leader to not know what was going on right under his nose. Or honestly with Trump, the most likely scenario is that he was aware of the White House pressure and at the time he gave the OK. Only know that he can use it to his political advantage is he carelessly hurling accusations that don’t fit the timeline, or worse, blaming a nefarious deep state that even he was powerless to stop.

So the timing happened after Biden became president? It's not clear to me. If so, then Trump is lost. Why isn't this more of a story? If it did happen while Trump was still president, I don't see why the USG would be talking to Meta on behalf of Hunter Biden's laptop.
                Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

’got the agency wrong’. Which agency did it? The FBI? Because if it’s as significant as Trump says it was, then it’s pretty sobering that he can’t even articulate that basic fact in a tweet. At the very least, let’s not give him the benefit of the doubt when assessing the impact of whatever suppression happened.

                  here’s a decent analysis of Zuckerberg’s letter:

Ok, some shameless whataboutism. Jared Kushner scored hundreds of millions of dollars from UAE and Qatar. That says nothing of any other ways he enriched himself involving the Saudis or Israelis or anyone else. He had far far more sway over foreign policy than Hunter Biden did. But I guess there are already so many other things Trump has done that merit outrage.

And the Kushner's are a crime family with Jared's father serving time for a variety of fraud and financial crimes. Of course he was pardoned by law and order obsessed Trump.

I voted for Biden, don't get me wrong....but if this was something that a Republican administration would doing, the left would be losing their shit.
In all honesty, it would have to take a number behind so many other more concerning scandals. I'd also hope that a democratic congressperson could refrain from showing Eric's or Don Jr's dick pic on the house floor.

I'm just curious about the timing. Trump says it happened in 2020. He was president then, so he was in charge, and I guess he was the one pressuring Meta. Or did it happen when Biden was president, in which case, Trump is lost on his timing. Is that age? Is he nuts? If Biden was "too old," then why isn't Trump? And why isn't this more of a story?

                        • JD needs to fire some folks on his campaign team. They keep putting him in these awkward situations that play to his social weaknesses. That donut shop stunt was a disaster. This doesn't look that much better.

That said, I'd be up for a free root beer float no matter who's buying and how odd they are.

This is an odd take. Clearly Trump didn't tell them to suppress information on the laptop. But it still happened and it should still be condemned.

Yeah, Trump should sue FaceBook/Zuckerberg for like 50 billion given that was election interference and cost him the election.

BTW, we is the Biden administration going to tell France to go F themselves and impose economic sanctions over arresting Pavel Durov? United Arab Emirates has already done it...

Clearly Biden/Harris are free speech hating commies if they don't.
