Vance's attacks on Walz's military record are, well, weird. Contrary to Vance's assertion, Walz had retired months before his unit was ordered to deploy, and nearly a year after the actual deployment. So Vance has falsely accused Walz, who volunteered and served honorably for 24 years, of avoiding service. How does Vance about his running mate, Captain Bone Spurs, who used a phony medical excuse to avoid service altogether?

Such an odd approach given how easy it is to debunk and how it opens both of them up to obvious questions. Vance was some kind of Marine press guy, and you already noted Trump's service record (but he did "take a bullet" for all of us!)..Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostVance's attacks on Walz's military record are, well, weird. But even more strange, IMO, is how they continue to elevate messages that are better suited for MAGA. The people the need to target will likely watch CNN (among other news outlets) and see these lies debunked.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Biden turned his back on us with those plugs. Traitor to the cause. Cheney was a dick who made bad decisions, but a powerful and competent one. Ford and Eisenhower have both been unfairly maligned (possibly because they were bald).Originally posted by YOhio View Post
Yes. He'll join the prestigious club that includes Biden, Cheney, Ford, and Eisenhower.

The media narrative is stacked against any generic Republican candidate in a presidential election. It takes a lot of discipline and some luck to get on top of the message. I'm sure Republicans sure love having Donald Trump, as disciplined and calculating as they come, as their candidate to flip the script and create a winning narrative.

Like the Vance pick, Walz is a confident pick. Clearly democrats don't see this race as about eking out Pennsylvania. They are aspiring to a route.
None of his "progressive" positions bother me at all. I agree with all of them except the right of kids to transgender surgery legislation in Minnesota, which the whole world is changing their minds about.
Gun control, same sex marriage, abortion rights, free school lunch. These are not radical positions. They're mainstream. He regrets not calling in the National Guard sooner during the George Floyd mayhem.
I'm in favor of undocumented immigrants getting driver licenses.
He was against the defund the police nonsense.
Walz actually owns guns and goes to a shooting range.
He'll support Ukraine and Israel except not West Bank settlements.
I thought Ezra Klein's most interesting point in yesterday's podcast may have been that Shapiro with his fancy law degree and Philadelphia base would be a doubling down on the elite persona--two coastal lawyers. But Walz is totally at odds with that persona. He can outflank Vance as a man of the ordinary fly over spaces.
Yesterday he said nobody he grew up with went to Yale or worked in Venture Capital.
As a Congressman he was more conservative because he came from the sticks. He moved left because he ran for governor and had to. It's what they do. Also, as Klein notes, the left criticized him because he eventually did call in the National Guard.
He was picked partly as a response to Vance. You can come from the rural midwest and not be full of hate and rage.
I love watching democrats grow up and moderate when they get power and own property. See the Squad losing in democratic primaries. George Floyd and defund the police becoming an embarrassment and walking back transgender surgery for kids.
I wish Republicans would do the same. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

I agree with SU's analysis, but add that the point about Walz waiting to call in the National Guard is being grossly overstated by Trumpsters (and a few knuckleheads on CB), despite their hero having lavishly praised Walz at the time for his prompt response. Walz called in the NG less than 24 hours after the mayor's request. Could he have acted sooner? Sure, but waiting a few hours (not the "days" CBers and others have claimed) before taking the extraordinary step of activating the Guard is understandable.

The funny thing is that if Trump just came out and said "I fully approved of how Walz handled this then and I still think Walz did the right thing," THAT would hurt Walz more than any criticism levied from Trump.Originally posted by Maximus View Postlmao

Sen. Fetterman is making a remote appearance on CNN right now and it looks like he's a mechanic in prison.
Also, he's said the republicans are weird, dumb, and wack
