These elections are going to be fucky. This time you will Trumpist renegade election board that will refuse to certify results that shouldn't in doubt. It cause all sort of chaos and at a minimum will be politically paralzing for a bit. All that against the backdrop of an unsteady world.

MAGA has stirred up a lot of activism. Abhorrent as their beliefs and aims are I have to give them credit for mobilization and drive.
They've sought out previously trivial offices like election boards and school boards and infected with hyper-partisanship.

Tim Walz: re-enlists, gets deployed. Returns, gets selected to be CSM of 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery. Gets provisionally promoted to CSM. Takes on duties of CSM. Told to complete a 2-year correspondence course to remain CSM. Retires before completion, administratively reduced in rank months after retiring to a master sergeant for benefits purposes (the last rank he fully qualified for).

MN National Guard: Walz "culminated his career serving as the command sergeant major for the battalion."

GOP and Insane right wing - he wasn't a CSM.
Also GOP and IRW - he was the senior non-com and abandoned his troops!

Fun fact, Ted. Tim Walz was once a member of the Texas National Guard.

As I understand it, he attained the rank of Command Sergeant Major but was demoted back to Master Sergeant at retirement because of not yet having completed the coursework required to maintain the CSM rank into retirement.

I don't even think it's as complicated as that. Senior NCO's incur a service obligation of an additional three years when they're promoted. When they voluntarily retire before meeting that obligation, they retire at the lower pay grade.

Of course, I'm not a personnel guy, so take what I say with a grain assault. Cope, didn't you do time in the S1?

I love Ted. I will never regard you as an unhuman. But now that Biden is not running Trump undisputedly carries the mantle for being most nonsensical and incoherent public figure out there and it's not close.

I still don't get why the Trumpists keep attacking Walz's 24 years of volunteer service (which by all accounts was honorable and exemplary), when their standard bearer submitted false information and lied to get out of serving at all and is on record repeatedly attacking others who served honorably. Not a winning strategy.

He was accommodating to the gays! The new measure of political Christianity now is performative and militant wrath against what is now increasingly just presumed vice and aberrance.

The golden rule and tolerance is too woke. Christian Nationalism is oxymoronic but it's now in vogue.

It used to be just an agreed upon to respect a political rival's military service as an honorable thing.

I don't understand why the Harris/Walz campaign isn't amplifying this in response.
