This is an interesting podcast with Kellyanne Conway and David Plouffe. Nice to listen to two people on opposite sides of the aisle be able to have a civil, somewhat objective conversation.

Biden needs to step down. Jeff was right. I underestimated the seriousness of his decline, by pointing out the pass Trump has gotten for his senior moments. Side by side, Trump isn't sane, but he has more life and confidence. Elderly people can be notoriously stubborn. Trump's dysfunction isn't an excuse for Biden; rather it makes addressing it more urgent.
Still, I'd vote for Biden over Trump no contest. I'd vote for my cat or or dog or a newborn infant or house plant before I'd vote him.
And RFK Jr is not an alternative. Like Trump he has been immune from ordinary life because of privilege and fame. He has less malice but he is kind of dumb. He seems like he wants to be a Green Party candidate one minute and a Libertarian the next while not quite understanding the ethical framework of either movement. He's like a yoga mom who has discovered a neat blog or podcast and suddenly believes they are enlightened.

There was an interesting opinion piece in the Journal this morning about how under current election law Biden needs to stay in it until he is the official nominee and then he can step down and the $100M raised by his campaign can go towards Kamala. If he steps down now then he can only route $2K of his campaign fund to another candidate.
Lawyers would of course litigate all this and who knows how it would all turn out, but it was an interesting read all the same.Comment
