  • I'm not one to bleat on and on a out how wokeness or racial identity politics will ruin this country but the fact that Biden can't replace Kamala because of her race and gender is going to cost this country. It's the dumbest self imposed handicap ever.

It's inexcusable, even if he was doing well she really doesn't add much.

This post debate recap is wild. I’ve never seen anything like it. Complete meltdown and panic in the Democratic Party.

            • No one is going to fact check Trump with all the Dems in full panic mode...

Dems freak out over Biden’s debate performance: ‘Biden is toast’
One prominent operative texted, “Time for an open convention.”

President Joe Biden opened the debate with a raspy voice and disjointed, rambling answers, reigniting Democratic concerns about his age and ability to take on former President Donald Trump.

Many of the president’s answers were hard to follow. At one point, seemingly losing his train of thought, Biden said “we finally beat Medicare,” misspeaking about his own policy on earned benefits.

In text messages with POLITICO, Democrats expressed confusion and concern as they watched the first minutes of the event. One former Biden White House and campaign aide called it “terrible,” adding that they have had to ask themselves over and over “What did he just say? This is crazy.”

Another veteran Democratic operative texted, “Biden seems to have needed a few minutes to warm up. I wonder if the lack of an audience was the right decision. And poor guy needs a tea. Maybe a whiskey.”

Jay Surdukowski, an attorney and Democratic activist from New Hampshire who co-chaired Martin O’Malley’s 2016 presidential campaign in the state, said, “Biden is toast — calling it now.”

Biden’s rambling answers provided Trump multiple opportunities to jump in with retorts. At one point, after an answer ostensibly on immigration, Trump said, “I don’t know what he said at the end there. I don’t think he knows what he said.”

              • IMO this was best-case scenario for someone who doesn’t want Trump to win. It is clear Biden has lost too many steps and the party is going to have to force his hand. And I legitimately think almost anyone who isn’t Biden, Hillary or Elizabeth Warren can and will defeat Trump.

                • Someone needs to fact check this one, however...

Did Grandpa Joe's debate advisors tell him to say this to try to trigger Trump?

I agree with this, and was kind of hoping this would happen. But can the Dems really pull the trigger on this?

And Trump ripping Biden for lying about his handicap is pretty rich, coming from the world's most famous golf cheat (see, Rick Reilly's Commander in Cheat).

I don't think this is the case. Granted the polling is 4 months old, but in February Biden polled so much better agga8 Trump than all the Dem back benchers. In the next week you'll see polling like this again and I bet the results will be the same. There is not a lot of time left for people with little name recognition to overtake Trump. I still think the better strategy is focusing on a new VP and keeping Biden at the top of the ticket.

The sheer hubris of the DNC and legacy media to beleive hiding Biden's decline wouldn't backfire. Astonishing.

The Best President of My Adult Life Needs to Withdraw

Joe Biden has done an excellent job as president. In fact, I consider him the best president of my adult life. Based on his policy record, he should be an overwhelming favorite for re-election.
                            [....]
Given where we are, I must very reluctantly join the chorus asking Biden to voluntarily step aside, with emphasis on the “voluntary” aspect. Maybe some Biden loyalists will consider this a betrayal, given how much I have supported his policies, but I fear that we need to recognize reality.

Step aside for whom? Kamala Harris was, by all accounts, an effective district attorney and attorney general, and she has also been quietly effective as vice president, promoting Biden’s policies. Choosing her as his successor would in no sense be settling for less.

It’s true that she didn’t do well in the 2020 Democratic primaries, but her problem then, as I saw it, was that she had a hard time making the case for choosing her over other candidates. She would have no problem making the case for choosing her over Trump.

                            • Love that last paragraph: Well, she was so crappy she couldn’t stand out from the other crazies in the 2020 race, but she should be at least good enough to be picked over Trump.

                              Yeah good luck with that!
