  • This is why it's becoming an issue even for non Republicans.

Migrant facilities have been the scene of three other stabbings in just two weeks, an alarming trend that has prompted officials to begin installing security cameras and weighing metal detectors.

You can point your finger at why the problem is the way it is all you want. But working on fixing it is what people will see and care about. "Immigration policy by congress" is an abstract thing for everyday Americans. They don't know what's been going on and they don't know how immigration even works. They just see migrants sleeping in subways and hear about stabbings involving them.

Man, I can't believe this is a controversial take.
"Democratic mayors and governors are begging him to do more" is not at all the same as "Democrat mayors and governors are begging him to adopt H.R.2, Stephen Miller's wet dream."

And he HAS been working on this issue. See, e.g. U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021, H.R. 1177, introduced on 2/8/21. Died in committee because lack of filibuster-proof majority in Senate, $2.8 billion in the Build Back Better to reduce immigration backlogs, part of what got gutted in order to replace it with the Inflation Reduction Act. But there's only so much a president can do when SCOTUS is willing to fast-track hearings opposing executive orders, and the opposing party is trying to work out who's going to be Speaker this week.

You have the most random responses. I have no idea what your point is with that statement.

"Hey, I have been trying to do fix this, but I have failed and it is not my fault."

That's a super compelling message in a campaign year. You are illustrating my point.

What are the chances Trump tanks the agreement and what are the chances you bitch about Biden and the porous wall in 2 weeks?
Looks like the chances are pretty high.

That bill would have been a dream come true. For all the political hand wringing about immigration we sure the fuck don't want to do anything about it.

                • Ok GOP voters…

Most conservative border deal ever? Zapped.

Handing Ukraine to Russia? Seems imminent.

Impeaching Biden and Mayorkas? Giddy up!

                      Trump has a better shot in 2024 v 2016.

                        I seriously doubt that.

Well he won in 2016. So you are saying he's a lock?

The party is all in on Trump which means we are at the whims of 400k people in GA, MI and WI. In 2016 the party was only tacitly in support.

Its going to be a coin flip.

2016 was also before he incited a mob to attack the Capitol Building. There is a subset of Republicans, and perhaps more importantly, Independents, who find that disqualifying.

I think he’s going to win.

I think his support amongst minority groups is way higher than being reflected in polls and a significant shift in those groups coupled with the USUCs of the world holding their nose is going to deliver him a second term.
