  • Wow. That would give any honest objective person pause. But still better than another four years of Trump.

Assuming Biden wins the election, I wonder how bad it will get. My recollection of the last couple years of Reagan was he wasn't as front and center, but he had surrounded himself with competent people.

I was going to respond, yet again, "not necessarily, but yes to age-related cognitive decline and senility," but didn't want to be accused again of pedantry (Pedantic? Moi?), so I'll pass...

As also noted previously, Biden could become the intellectual equal of a potted plant and I'd still vote for him instead of Trump.

          • What are the chances Biden bows out sometime in the Spring? I think it's greater that 50%. LBJ decided he wouldn't seek reelection in March of 1968.

                I’d settle for Howard Dean.

It's pretty damning to Biden, even if it's only partially true. I seem to think of it more as a "binders full of women" moment. Mitt (and any white, male GOP candidate) has certain identities they have to overcome. When he said "binders full of women" it didn't mater what he meant to say, it took off like a storm and he never really recovered. Same with Nikki Haley and her answer to the question on the cause of the Civil War. As a GOP candidate from the South, her not immediately saying "slavery" plays into the caricature that was already painted.

Biden is obviously old and misspeaks all the time. It doens't help that after this report was released that he bombed his press conference...during which he said "mexico" in place of "egypt". That's probably just a typical gaffe for most people, but when you are over 80 years old and you don't even walk normal anymore and you obviouusly struggle to turn your head in press conferences, it just looks bad and reinforces preconceinved notions.

Biden needs to drop out. The debates are going to be brutal. Trump isn't exactly a young buck but if Biden has one small gaffe like mistaking Mexico for Egpyt, Trump is going to lay into it and the whole nation will see it unfold live on tv.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

                          Yeah, this is very bad.

Stupid Biden. If he had only made a halfway decent VP pick, we wouldn't be in this awful mess.

                          • I think this is that turning point that sinks his candidacy.

All the speculation has been about his cognitive decline. This basically solidifies that. I don't know how he recovers. Hopefully, he understands that and steps aside so the Dems can put a decent candidate on the ballot.

                            • This is the big message here. I don't think Biden recovers.
