If Bernie won the nomination in ‘16, and a member of the squad ascended to the Speakership, and state parties were overtaken by the Democratic Socialists, and at Bernie’s bidding they invaded the Capitol, and while doing this Bernie was criming, and Bernie’s son in law got 2B from the Chinese, and all of Bernie’s lawyers were admitting to crimes they committed on his behalf, nobody here would think it’s rational to be a member of the Democratic Party.

Everyone here would say, well we knew this was inevitable based on what they teach on college campuses and the lack of God in the party. That party was bound to be led to hell.

The current GOP/Conservative movement follows Trump to hell and people here still think it’s a smart play, and moral, to help shape the party by voting for its candidates and registering as republicans. LOL.

These constant strawman arguments are really tiresome. You are undefeated in the in the arguments you make up!

JFC is there a more lame retort than straw man on a message board?

Lef me craft a response that isn’t technically a straw man that says the same thing so that a lawyer is satisfied, pass.

          Possibly the strawman argument itself.

You don't need to satisfy anyone on this board. Indeed, that seems to be your M.O.

I am impressed my simple act and proclamation of said act has juiced you up to crackhead levels of anger that seems to be terrorizing you. But I am the only one here who has committed this act you find so abhorrent. Just direct your anger at me instead of fretting about this weird transitive guilt by those who do not agree 100% with you.

                • I hope the US doesn't forget how bad it was with Trump at the helm.

                  • I would not put too much stock into current polls. Whether Biden is the nominee or not, it will come down to how the economy is doing next summer and early fall. If inflation has come down and the economy is still growing, the democrats will win. If not the republicans will win. That will likely be Trump, short of him being convicted before then.

I think there are very few democrats that get out more votes than Biden. And while I think trump will drag down the independent vote compared to other potential candidates, he could easily beat Biden or any other Democratic nominee.

                    • Despite recent polls about Biden, in general the Republicans did not do well yesterday in states where there were notable elections. In Virginia the dems kept the senate and took back the house, handing a huge defeat to Governor Youngkin. In Ohio they voted to give Constitutional protection to abortion rights. Historically, elections in odd years have been good at predicting how it should go in the next major one. The GOP is driving off a cliff MAGA is making them lose.

Pre-Trump, this is be true. Now, a lot of traditional non voters are part of the Trump cult of personality and will only vote when he is on the ballot. The trend line certainly is veering towards the cliff for the Trump led GOP. But don't underestimate the power of the high cost of living right now. If that doesn't change over the coming year, Biden (or whoever the Dem nominee is) will be at risk to losing to Trump.

That should have affected Virginia legislative races but the Republicans were essentially trounced. The economy isn't that bad. High prices are annoying but people have jobs and money right now so it's not dire enough to make the hard drive into right wing culture wars seem less scary to normal people. At least that is what I think is the most likely explanation of what happened in that barometer state.

Also a Democrat won the governor race fairly comfortably in deep red Kentucky, of all places. If the economic disaster narratives on Fox were taking hold outside a shrinking maga base, it would have been apparent in those two states last night.

High prices are annoying but people have jobs and money right now? This is insanely out of touch. I am perplexed by Dem pundits who parrot this. "Look everyone, the rate of inflation is falling and the economy isn't really all that bad. To state otherwise is misinformation." But people don't care about incremental change to the inflation rate or job numbers. They care about prices. They know what things cost now and they have memories of what they used to cost a couple of years ago.

Yeah, the economy is the main reason why the most recent poll showed Biden 5 pts behind trump is all of the battleground states. That and everyone (D and R alike) thinks that Biden is way too old. The crazy thing is that even that ditz Harris polls better than Biden in staw polls.
