A viral narrative suggesting widespread instances of Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio stealing residents’ pets or taking wildlife from parks for food surfaced on social media this week.
A post on Facebook, opens new tab sharing the narrative included an image with the text: “Springfield Ohio residents are warning their pets and wildlife like ducks and geese are being eaten by Haitians.”

Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance amplified the narrative about “Haitian illegal immigrants” in a Sept. 9 post on X, opens new tab that said, “Reports now show that people have had their pets abducted and eaten by people who shouldn't be in this country.”

However, Springfield police and officials have said in response to the narrative that there are no widespread instances of Haitian immigrants stealing pets to eat them.
In a statement on Tuesday, a Springfield police spokesperson said, "In response to recent rumors alleging criminal activity by the immigrant population in our city, we wish to clarify that there have been no credible reports or specific claims of pets being harmed, injured or abused by individuals within the immigrant community."

Some social media posts present, opens new tab bodycam footage of a woman’s arrest in Canton, Ohio for killing and eating a cat to support the online narratives, but Canton, Ohio police spokesperson Dennis Garren said in an email: “The suspect in this case is not a Haitian immigrant,” “She is a life long Canton resident.”

Springfield Mayor Rob Rue on Monday said claims of geese or ducks from parks being killed and eaten are unsubstantiated, according to a Springfield News-Sun report.
In interviews last month, following claims at a city commission meeting that Haitians were cooking wildlife taken from local parks, a city official said they had not been able to verify any of those reports and described them as "false" and "misleading" information amplified by social media.

I think trump could have done a much better job but given that the Harris administration had 4 years to implement all the stupid ideas she has been throwing out (and didn’t) trump still won the debate. Trump pointed this out in his closing statement. it seems the polls are saying the same thing, trump won:

The independent fact checking reports are saying Harris also lied more than Trump as well but you wouldn’t get that from the very one sided fact checking the ABC moderators offered. It’s no wonder Direct TV hasn’t renewed their contract with ABC.

LOL… no one trust the AP any more given the statement that they took out of context from JD Vance. The internet is flooded with videos and eye witness accounts so folks are getting their news directly these days. Not to mention there are some really funny memes.

They are also lots of videos of cats being killed and BBQ’ed. These are so bad the childless cat ladies are most likely going to change their minds about Harris. I still don’t see a problem with eating cats, however. I ate guinea pigs in Peru that were practically people’s pets and I actually found them to be quite tasty.
