Yeah, that is why the European Americans exterminated more than 50 million Native Americans... they were not Christian enough, I guess. Of course, no one wants to talk about that. They would rather talk about reparations for the 10 million or so (with 400,000 to the US) brought here via the slave trade by the Europeans. Maybe they all should be asking King Chuck for their reparations. For us Americans that are descendants of the "savages" that occupied this land when the Christians arrived (not you, Liz Warren), y'all need to give our people's land back. Yeah, let's do that and we can let the Native Americans decide who they want to let in.

It pains me to say it, but I agree with the sentiment. It kills me when people, many within our faith, go on about how God directed the founding of this country. If that's true then God is not a benevolent God, because this country was built on slavery and genocide, and it was mostly justified because the people we destroyed to build this country were not chosen by our own benevolent God. I remember being taught about Manifest Destiny as a child and that I assumed from the way it was taught that it was a good thing. We're not special because we're Americans, and God doesn't love us more because we're Americans. The older I get, the less love I have for God and religion. Thus endeth the lesson.

Wow Ted, I'm impressed. That's very woke of you!

It's been 20+ years since my last American history course, but I believe that by the time Jamestown and Plymouth were founded, the native populations were already decimated. Resistance that may have been mounted 100 years before, just wasn't possible.

The only way to solve the most pressing issues we face (energy, environment, sustainability, etc) is with scientific and technological advancements. And this is only done in countries with advanced economies. Those very same countries are experiencing or facing demographic collapse and the potential impact on world economies will be severe. And of course, third world countries will suffer too - probably the most.

The impact to social programs is going to be catastrophic. Those programs have been built on being sustained through current income. There are no savings or funds to pay for them. But old people don’t care because they won’t be the ones to suffer. It’ll be my kids generation that have to bear the largest burden, IMO (that opinion being very speculative).

I disagree. Our kids generation is so self absorbed that they will just cut the programs and impose mandatory death ages on old people like the planet in an episode of Star Trek TNG. So we will be suffering about 20 years from now, or at least dead.
