Yes, by all means, let’s mock anyone who attempts to express some empathy following a tragedy.
But why stop with shootings? Let’s stamp out all vestiges of humanity, regardless of the tragedy.

Someone's tucking in their child tonight who will be dead inside of a month from a school shooter. If thoughts and prayers worked, then God'd be a respecter of persons, no?Originally posted by BigPiney View PostThoughts and prayers are going to work one of these days

if you can’t see the difference between peaceful political protest and knowingly (at best) sponsoring objectively false and clearly defamatory testimony accusing the governor of taking money from the sinaloa cartel from the floor of the legislature, you might be an even bigger dice loading dipshit than was widely believed. “pearl clutching”—what a dumb dumb.Originally posted by BigFatMeanie View PostFor those of you who were clutching pearls over the Tennessee expulsion of two of the "Bullhorn Three", moaning about the death of democracy, the disenfranchisement of the voters, claiming Republicans would never expel a fellow Republican that was behaving naughtily, I give you Liz Harris and the Arizona House:

Kicking out the two black guys (and not the white woman) was a really dumb own goal by the Tennessee republicans. They have both been reinstated by their districts already and now they have newfound fame and massive war chests from new supporters all over the country.

"Harris engaged in disorderly behavior in violation of House Rule 1, thereby eroding the public trust in the legislative process," the resolution calling for her expulsion read.
The vote came a day after the release of a House Ethics Committee report, which concluded that Harris knew, or was at least aware, that a woman she arranged to testify at the Capitol would claim, without evidence, that a host of elected officials and judges, including Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs, took bribes from the Sinaloa drug cartel and committed other crimes, such as money laundering.
The woman, Gilbert, Ariz., insurance agent Jacqueline Breger, also claimed during the February hearing that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints "controls" the government and played a key role in money laundering schemes.

aren't they all? or at least probably 90% of them. hard to imagine anybody doing that who doesn't have fairly serious mental health issues going on.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostAnother mental health related mass killing today. The expelled Members in Tennesee brought a bullhorn to the floor.
Steve Scalise, Matt Gaetz, and others forced their way into a SCIF to invade a closed-door hearing. The meeting could not continue, and security had to do electronics sweeps for hours afterward.
Which were expelled from their respective bodies?Last edited by LVAllen; 04-09-2023, 01:38 PM.

Until now the only members of the Tennessee legislature that had ever been expelled were for things like taking bribes or sexual scandals. And every other time it happened after at least weeks of investigations and committee meetings. This time it was immediate and was for three members causing a scene for wanting to talk about guns just a few weeks removed from a hideous incident where innocent children were murdered in the very city where the legislature meets. Yes, they pulled a stunt to try to talk but only after the speaker of the house decided they were not going to be allowed to speak about that. Those who voted to expel didn't like the topic to be addressed and especially didn't like these black members "forgetting" their place. Someone in that legislature could show up to work dressed like KKK and I don't believe there would be enough votes to expel.Originally posted by chrisrenrut View PostLast edited by BlueK; 04-08-2023, 11:29 PM.

No I don't. Inappropriate behavior probably. But there are surely censure and probably other ways of dealing with it it that don't include giving the middle finger to those they represent. If the actions were the same but it had been Republicans protesting about transgender high school athletes or something like that do you think they'd be expelled? Highly doubtful I think.

From the article you linked: "The three lawmakers led a protest on the House floor last Thursday without being recognized, CNN affiliate WSMV reported, using a bullhorn..."
You don't think disrupting the TN house proceedings out of order with a bullhorn is grounds for expulsion? You think any house member, regardless of whether they have the floor or are within parliamentary bounds should be able to grab a bullhorn and let it rip on the house floor?
