Chances are good none of them were.

One of the dead had a green card with an AS6 designation. That means she's a primary Asylee. Abbott doesn't like Asylees, though. He's convinced they're all illegals just scamming the system, so maybe he doesn't see the difference.

Jackass is too kind a word for someone trying to score political points from a mass murder.

in a nice north ogden neighborhood last week, a guy went to his brother's house (who had received a larger portion of his deceased parents inheritance), gunned down his brother and the brother's wife and then set the house on fire.

i'm in favor of some additional gun control - if one life is saved it's worth it, but damn - unfortunately there just isn't anything you can do to stop the large majority of these. if a gun owner gets offended by his neighbors or doesn't like the fact his parents left his sibling more money than him, and decides killing them is the route he wants to go, no amount of gun control is going to stop that. effing sucks. you can't legislate irrational/psychopathic thinking away.

    1. Mental health (desire to massacre, possibly aided through lower inhibitions via alcohol)
    2. Access to weapons (police had been there before regarding him shooting in his yard, so apparently the rifle was legal).
    3. Access to ammunition
    4. Access to travel with ammunition and weapons (neighbor).
    5. Access to exterior of destination
    6. Access to interior of destination

No, that’s more of the crazy Hawaiian style of hunting wild hogs.

We are more civilized and use helicopters and automatic weapons.

Washington just passed an assault rifle ban. But the ban is on sales, not possession. i think Oregon passed a magazine size bill as well. These will be working their way through the courts so we'll see where they end up. It is interesting that anti gun violence advocates are spending so much time on the AR-15 instead of handguns.

And again, you may have trouble trying to ban it right now because it is in common use as per the Heller ruling. Maybe magazine size can be? But there are alternatives to the AR-15 like the Mini-14, for example.
