Ok. I'll wait for someone to post in the Town Hall forum so I can protest.Originally posted by Sea Chicken View PostIt's kind of like health care reform. I keep putting this off, but Bellavela and I are in. When the weather gets too chilly or the days too dark, we'll be riding the trainer, though. Have any mileage-equivalents been decided on? I'd suggest 18-20 miles per hour ridden, depending on the workout. Maybe we just estimate our own, based on effort?

I always thought trainers had some sort of mileage gauge or something on them. Is that not the case?Originally posted by mtnbiker View PostI keep putting this off, but Bellavela and I are in. (I am NOT arguing to exclude trainer mileage, btw - just curious.)Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

What if you had a garmin 305, for example, and set it up with the cadence doo-hickey. Can you put that on the back wheel?Originally posted by creekster View Postnot udsually. you can set up a computer on your rear wheel. but that is unsuaual.
(I ask because, at some point, I'm probably going to be getting a bike and trainer. Again, I'm all for including trainer mileage in whatever way everybody thinks best).Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

If you know your heart rate on an outside ride, then you can estimate mileage with your HR monitor. Also, if you have HR data from a recent run, then you can use my spreadsheet to figure out how many calories you burned on your trainer and back into it that way.Originally posted by nikuman View PostWhat if you had a garmin 305, for example, and set it up with the cadence doo-hickey. Yes. The Garmin 305 cadence device also measures distance and speed while on a trainer. It uses a magnet attached to a rear spoke. You enter the wheel size as one of the settings.Originally posted by nikuman View PostWhat if you had a garmin 305, for example, and set it up with the cadence doo-hickey.
