On a side note, I've had a number of students notice that I had lost weight, and my gay TA, in front of the whole class (after a student observed I had lost some weight) said that I was 'looking really good.' So maybe when I'm not running for charity (and butt kicking) I can inspire myself to complete that extra mile by thinking of how it will impress my TA.

it is because of the D-Land half Mary that I would love to get credit for. but I am really not pissed, just sad .

We are still planning on running a 5k on Halloween as a family. I have yet to start any training.

Last night when I got home from school my youngest (11) told me that she did the mile at school yesterday and ran it in 10 flat. No remember...this girl is 5'3" and around 160. A big girl, but that is my fault.

She says that she is going to beat me in the 10k at halloween by 15 minutes, and wants me to place a reward (a bounty if you will) out there for her if she does.

        I almost grounded her.

That's a great story, Tick. Sounds like a fun family project to prepare.

There is no doubt that she is going to beat me. I am 360 for heavens sake.

But my question is...knowing that she is going to beat me, what should I put up for the bounty?

I am going to talk crap on a daily basis on how I will smoke her. I will also make up times that are faster than hers so that when she does beat me she will feel great.

            What type of prize?

The best encouragement I got from my dad back in my racing days was acknowledgment. This may sound dumb, but I'd offer to make a poster for her and display it in a prominent area in the home for a month acknowledging her superior skills or something. Or, let her throw a party for a set number of friends where you barbecue.

Those are the thoughts that first come to mind.

Something to do with fitness. Take her shopping for a couple of cute workout outfits so she's not self conscious when she's exercising.

And btw, thats a great mile for a girl her size. Come on dad, it's time to help her get healthy.

Working on that. She is the one in mr FB photo.

Kid doesn't eat bad, but everything she eats sticks.

                      That would be hard.

Thanks for replying, btw. After I re-read what I posted to you I thought it sounded awfully condescending, and that's not what I was trying to say.

Growing up and still being fat I know what she is going to face. And girls typically get it worse.

She knows what she needs to do, and she tells us when she eats something she shouldn't have. We have created an environment where she doesn't have to hide anything.

The biggest problem...her 17 year old sister is 5'2" and 110. She eats terrible and never puts on a lb.

My wife and I have mentioned how the foods we stock in the house will change considerably next summer when the oldest is off in college.

And from what I have learned from you on here, and seeing your life on FB I know that you meant no malice by your comment.
