Yes! Thanks for the reminder. I think 80% is for cardio training. But I'm not sure. All I care about is hitting my # for 45+ minutes.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Post220 minus your age * 70% is what I was told if you are looking for a good baseline.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

One of the men in our ward collapsed on the treadmill yesterday, and died. There was no one around when he collapsed. I think about this sometimes as I almost always go cycling by myself. Does anyone else think about these things? Kind of hard to process.

Before I head out on a long ride, I imagine having a major fall or getting nailed by some careless driver, and then thinking I'll look back at the start of the ride when everything was nice and normal, and wishing I could go back to that. Weird, but that actually happened to me once (bad fall with substantial after effects). But every time I wonder about the potential dangers or running or riding, I also imagine a sedentary me, spread out on a couch, and then gasping for air as I go to the fridge, and I decide the risks are worth it.Originally posted by Bo Diddley View PostOne of the men in our ward collapsed on the treadmill yesterday, and died. What kind of shape was your ward member in? It's very disturbing when an otherwise healthy person suddenly dies like that. Another Jim Fixx, perhaps?

You know, I'm not positive. He was probably around 50 with a thin to medium build. Not someone I'd call an athlete, but not a slug. He did something with software development, so probably sat quite a bit. But who doesn't anymore? I'm a soldier and I sit behind a computer more often than not.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostBefore I head out on a long ride, I imagine having a major fall or getting nailed by some careless driver, and then thinking I'll look back at the start of the ride when everything was nice and normal, and wishing I could go back to that. I always prefer road running over treadmill because the fresh air that we experience in the open environment is always beneficial for the body and in a closed room treadmill created suffocation which has many adverse effects on the body and respiratory system.

Hey, I like that moniker. But I predict the bobcat will be another one-post wonder."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Damn picture wasn't supposed to update itself. For all who think my post stupid when you see clear skies, the original picture was when the particulate count in the air was off the charts yesterday before it started raining.Originally posted by Copelius View Post

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
