    I hate both.

I discovered after getting new running shoes last December and beginning training for the half, just how much I loathe running. Then I hurt my knee, and though it feels better now I haven't run consistently since.

I need to find an exercise that I can burn calories without loathing what I'm doing.

Holy crap! That is awful. gross.

I think I am pretty tough when it comes to the gym. Sometimes I will go to the drinking fountain, swish some water, and then spit it out back into the fountain....and people are waiting right behind me. I don't care.

Also, a few times I have headed home without using the Purell dispensers to clean my hands. Live fast, die young.

I always wondered who those dudes were on the elliptical. You go into the gym and see nothing but a row of women on those and then one guy sheepishly hiding at the end. I just figured it was the guy that wanted to get the best view of the chicks at the gym, but apparently it's the very prayerful types.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

You can be prayerful and want a good view of the women at the same time.

Have you tried cycling? It is my favorite form of exercise now. I also track my calories burned per hour and I get the best burn rate when I am on the bike.

When I first started going to the gym, I started on the elipticals. When I was in physical therapy for my back, that is what they had me use there. So I wanted to work my way up rather than start with running and jarring my back for an extended period of time.

I got no problem with guys on elipticals, and even readily admit that it takes some level of coordination to make the arms and legs all go where they are supposed to when they are supposed to.

Dude who wants the best view is on the machines a row behind the women on the ellipticals. Not on the same row.

A fair point, I suppose, depending on the setup. There are no cardio machines behind the elliptical at my gym, so those dudes have nowhere else to go.

Everything I've read says that you should run on a treadmill at 1-1.5% grade to equal the same effort as road running.

Sea Chicken is the exception because he's wicked fast. The average runner can run faster on a treadmill.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Sea Chicken is far from wicked fast. The Dirtbag would smoke me at pretty much any distance.

Time for the forum perv to interject here. The best place is where you have a bird's eye view through the glass into the aerobics/kickboxing cardio room where you can nonchalantly get nice cleavage views. You guys are amateurs.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Privacy glass at my gym. No luck.

Why is that? Use your sick physics skillz to break this down for the rest of us.

I could've sworn you were a sub 7 pace kind of guy (from something you posted somewhere). To me, that's wicked fast.
