  • I have played about 8 times this year. Still struggling to get back to the old game. However, I am happy to report after 3 cortizone shots to the L3, L4 and L5 and I am feeling better than I have for about two years. Very minimal pain now and renewed energy.

I will be back down below a 10 handicap by the end of June.

First goal is to shoot in the 80's Friday and Saturday.

That's great! My goal is to hit 100 regularly by June.

      • I got out last week with an eye doctor I know. He is kind of a dick, but his friends are nice. Anyway, he and I both ended up with a score of 90. His was a fairly consistent 90--fair number of bogeys, a handful of pars, and the occasional double--over the course of the round.

My 90 was a little more adventuresome. I started out triple, triple, double, double, for a solid 10-over through 4 start. I blame the 8 bunkers I hit, but the truth is, I hit a number of really good shots for which I was not rewarded. I notched my first and only par on the front primarily because it was shortest par 5 in Las Vegas we had the wind at our back. I capped the front nine with another double, for a nice 50 on the front.

On the back, I hit every fairway but one and every green in regulation. But for a couple missed 4-footers on the last two holes, I would have broken 90 on the round. Now if I could just string two solid 9s together, I may have something.

Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

Yea, but you haven't been playing for 45 years.

I stopped by Golf Smith yesterday, and checked out their belly putters. The SC Kombi was $299. Yikes! I tried a bunch and seemed to like the TM Ghost Spider the most, and at $199 its 2 rounds cheaper than the Kombi. I'm torn between buying a new real one for $199, a used ebay for $139, or making a component look alike for $50. I don't mind paying premium for premium products, but a putter isn't like its an IPad3 or something. Even writing this, the component is looking like the better move.

            Component Putter Head - $20
Tru Temper Double Bend Putter Shaft - $10.
            Putter Grip - $20.00

By the time you put on a good grip and a Tru Temper belly shaft in it, you could put a blind fold on and not tell the difference. I'm such a bad putter, that I don't think the extra $150 bucks would make a difference. At least when I will have a bad putting day, I'll be able to blame it on my cheap ass putter.

Hold on just a cotton pickin' second. There was no "kind of" about it, he is a dick. Though, he did have an amazing shot on the 18th hole into a stiff wind. Not to mention, he didn't have to pull out Mosiah 4:19 (are we not all beggars?) to pay for his round of golf.

That is what I have, and I love it.

I am not a baller like DT. I had to go the cheap route.

And I have golfed with the Attorney and the dick Eye Doctor both mentioned in this thread.

I have only beaten one of them though.

                • HOLD THE PRESSES!

I was just talking with my wife about how good I was saving money on a putter, and she suggested that since our anniversary is coming up, I ought to splurge and get the new set of irons I've been pining for for 2 years.

With 4 kids in college, and a wedding coming up in June, this is like the red sea parting! I've got to do it today, for who knows what mood she'll be in tomorrow.

                    • I took a lesson this morning from the pro at my club. I left hitting the ball better than I have maybe ever.

I am playing tomorrow morning, I am excited to work on some things. I need to putt better to be a consistent sub-100 player, which is my goal for the 2012 golf season.

                      • 10 days till they're here.

Ping i20's 4-PW&SW - Black Dot with upgraded +1" Stiff KBS Tour Shafts. Stock Grips.

I was going to buy the belly putter while there, but now I have a hankering for a new bag too, (maybe a cart as well), so I'm going to stick with my component putter for $50 and pace myself.

Very nice, you wouldn't have wanted my i15's they are white dots.

Yes Donut I got them back. I went into the golf store, where the manager smiles a huge smile every time I come in, and got them back over the winter. They hadn't sold and so now I'm back to the Pings. I never felt comfortable with the Adams.

Yeah, Fiddler's is a great spot. Though not so great for my wallet.
