You and me both. They are my shoe of choice. I like the 3 even better than the 2, and that is saying something.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostI Have a pair of Brooks Ghost 3s but they didn't work out so well. I exclusively been running in Kinvara 2/3 for the past 4-5 months and I love them to death.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

What do you like about the 3? It's time for me to replace my shoes.Originally posted by nikuman View PostYou and me both. They are my shoe of choice. I like the 3 even better than the 2, and that is saying something."What are you prepared to do?" - Jimmy Malone

They have some hard rubber pieces (used to be just a different color EVA and wore out quick) on the soles (the black parts) so I think they will last longer. I don't like the lacing system as much but overall they feel like the exact same shoe as the 2 and are 4 grams lighter.

After a forced estrangement due to misplacing them in our move, I found and broke out the VFF for the first time in a couple of months and wore them on a short run this week. My calves are screaming again, but I had my best pace since May and felt great. Now I'm really ready for the humidity to drop below 90%.I have nothing else to say at this time.

Everyone is complaining today about how humid it is here. I just check weather.com - 32%.Originally posted by Parrot Head View PostAfter a forced estrangement due to misplacing them in our move, I found and broke out the VFF for the first time in a couple of months and wore them on a short run this week. I just bought a pair, I have run in Saucony's since 10th grade. I like them, after I bought mine on sale I saw them on sale on theclymb.com for $30.Originally posted by nikuman View PostYou and me both. They are my shoe of choice. I like the 3 even better than the 2, and that is saying something.

I was starting to think the 5k to 10k program was too much. The first two runs of week 1 were brutal and pretty much every step was a mental battle to not stop and walk for a bit, but I didn't give up, and today I ran nearly a half mile farther than day 1 or 2 and at a constant pace (more or less) the whole time. I felt really good and now I look forward to stepping it up a little more in week 2. Oh, and the pounds keep melting away, I'm down 60+ lbs since November and in my third set of clothes...

Went running with the wife this morning. It is so nice that the kids are old enough to leave alone while we run for an hour or less. My wife is trying to be faster than me. I don't like that. 5.2 miles at a 7:28 pace. I am tired now, just sitting here at work.

Daaaaaaaaannng, fellas. That is awesome. Keep it up. I am enjoying following your training.Originally posted by The_Douger View Post
I have lost like 35 lbs since i started doing this and I'll just keep puttering away.
It is nice now that the kid are getting older. our problem with working out together is that our seasons are opposite. I bike primarily in the summer and run in the winter, while she runs primarily in the summer and cross-trains in the winter.Originally posted by BigPiney View PostWent running with the wife this morning. But its still nice for me to not feel totally rushed getting back from a bike ride so she can go for a run early on a saturday morning. Of course perhaps not hurrying back could explain why I haven't been as fast on the bike this year.

So I've been on a MWF evening routine for my runs. Well, last night I missed my run so I decided to wake up early and run this morning. Ugh... I am not a morning person/runner. Maybe I just need to acclimate to running early. The program consists of 4 12 minute intervals separated by a one minute walk. I completely ran out of gas and walked most of the last interval. Maybe it was too early, maybe it was lack of food an hour or two before running, maybe it was just an off day. I'm thinking I'll probably be revisiting week 2 of this 5k to 10k program next week. I'm trying not to get down on myself, but its the first time since I started running the c25k and now the 5k to 10k program that I bonked and couldn't finish. I guess that's good coming from where I was at. The good news is that my pace was up to 11:30 for the first two intervals, which is right inline with my next goal of a 35 minute 5k on Sept. 9th.Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. I made a post somewhere in this thread that talked about running at different times of the day. I was always running at night, then one day I tried running early in the morning. I'm not sure why, but I struggled with it that first day and a couple other days that I tried it. It took a while to acclimate to running in the morning, but I got there. I can now run either at night or in the morning and I'm typically fine either way, although my fastest runs still seem to be at night.Originally posted by atheistcougar View PostSo I've been on a MWF evening routine for my runs. The key for me is to plan for the run. If I'm running at night I'll eat a big lunch, down a couple glasses of water when I first get home from work, and eat a small dinner and usually head out around 8:30 or 9:00pm. If I run in the morning I'll eat a bigger dinner and drink a glass of water before bed.
Don't worry about having a bad day running, although you should always try to finish the mileage unless you are injured. If you can't run it, then walk the remaining mileage. While I rarely walk I typically will slow down my pace if I'm not feeling "it" on a run. For instance, last night my first 3 miles were great but in beginning mile 4 I felt like throwing up since I had eaten dinner too close to my run time. I slowed down a bit and let my stomach relax. My 4th mile split was 30 seconds slower than the other splits, but I finished the run."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
